The whole left side is out
The speakers on my entire left side emits no audio signal at all. I thought it was the speakers at first since they were the original stock ones from 1992. But after I installed them, it was still dead silent. The right side of the car works great.
What could be the problem guys? Should I disattach the stock radio and see whats going on back there?

if you can switch your left and your right's....you can see if it is a wiring issue or a deck issue..
So in other words, the line out for your LEft speakers switch it with your right....and your right line out switch it to your left in. etc.... see what happens....
If you get audio on your left speakers using your right channel...then.....your cabling is good...but your deck output is bad....etc...

Stock HU ??? Is it Bose ?? Which Stock HU, which car company Who made the car or the HU???
Most cars have separate power amps nowadays, could be as simple as a inline fuse , or as serious as a bad D to A unit in the amp module or as simple as a broken cable or connector.
Your still not giving enough info on what you have both car and level of radio and such...
If you can't answer these questions I pose them your stuck with OEM dealer support for your stock system < Your best bet... I know a Company here in NorCal that repairs all stock HU and OEM amplifiers but its not cheap. A stock radio can run between $1,100.00 too $3,500.00 to replace depending on what it is and what maker... Just a FYI...

Has this been done yet? Swap your RCAs around. If the opposite side now plays music, you can eliminate the amplifier and speaker wiring from your troubleshooting. That is already a huge help... then all you would have to do is figure out why your bad RCA isn't playing.Wakeup wrote:So in other words, the line out for your LEft speakers switch it with your right....and your right line out switch it to your left in. etc.... see what happens....

If the RCA switch doesn't help, then try switching the speaker wires around. If you can get the right speakers to play out of the left channel of the amp, then you have a problem with your right speakers or wiring.

No amp and stock HU, are there RCA's? If not he has to hack up his stock HU wiring harness.stipud wrote:Has this been done yet? Swap your RCAs around. Oops I missed that post.mr tibbs wrote:No amp and stock HU, are there RCA's? If not he has to hack up his stock HU wiring harness.
So we've got a totally stock 1992 system then. No idea what car. Have you checked a junkyard for a new stock headunit? Should cost a few bucks, and is probably the most likely culprit if one whole side has stopped working.

I have been working with him for a little bit
The car is a 92 izuzu rodeo. With a factory head unit and now rsd coaxials. He has had this problem for a while and assumed the problem was with the factory speakers. He just swapped in the new rsd's and the problem is still present

Can be hard fixing the wiring, cuz you have to find out where the wiring is open...or cut...or damaged.timisu87 wrote:How hard is it to fix the wiring? I really hope its just the headunit.
Again, if you try my switching of the channels, then at least you can tell if it is the wiring or the deck.
Easy test IMO.[/i]
Anybody got a set of Mitchell documents for the pin out and wiring ??
I would get the deck pinout and just use a test speaker on jumpers to bump each output to the speaker. If there is no signal at the deck it pretty much a no brainer its the HU. But if you get signal then its wiring. And if its all low level at the HU then I would be looking for a hidden amp somewhere.
Where are those hacked Mitchell doc's I had ?????????

Yes much Tibbs.
All he needs to do is connect speakers to each output one by one. if there is nothing wrong with the deck he should get music on all 4 outputs without issue.
no music its defiantly a HU issue. If he gets music its wire chase time, or just run new wires.. THX Mr.Tibbs
Its no impossible for a side of the output IC going south on the fella, and leaving him dead on one side. But I would have to look inside the Hu to verify a single or dual chip output. I have also seen current limit resistors inside these desolder and then you lose a set of outputs all because of bad solder on a SMD chip resistor. < if thats the case please use high temp silver solder on the rework....C

So basically from what I understand is that, I would first pull out the stock headunit and disconnect the wiring for the left side speakers and connect them into the right side to see if there is music. If this works that means that my left channel is blown out.
Is this correct? Do I just pull the wire and it come out?
