PHOENIX GOLD OCTANE-R 15.......ARE THEY ANY GOOD?
PHOENIX GOLD OCTANE-R 15.......ARE THEY ANY GOOD?
i just ran across a decent deal on some of these and im trying to find out if these speakers are even worth buying....if any of the sub gurus here could shed some light on these that would be great....i know they arent titaniums but im hoping they share some of the same mechanical aspects....thanks in advance...
I have owned both the titaniums, and the octanes... In overall loudness, the octanes in my install were just as loud as the titaniums.. They didnt extend as low, or sound quite as good, but they still sounded nice. One problem to note, the octane subs had a bad rep for the tinsel leads coming off at the terminals.. Mine did, and I easily fixed it, but it was annoying in that aspect.. Pretty decent sub though. They get loud for sure.. Its a shame pg does not make 15s anymore...
thanks for the info man....the real shame is that pg dont make 18's anymoreMackenzie wrote:I have owned both the titaniums, and the octanes... i figure 2-3 with 1200 watts should give me some decent thump....did u run yours sealed or ported.
you sure about that....its been a long time and i know i forget a few things here and there....but i know when the ti came out it was a big deal that it could be had as an 18 and that was the major selling point...it was never pushed because of some mech errors or loss of market....maybe only 50-100 made....maybe one of the pg guys can chime in...but i could have sworn that i had passed on a few of these covered in dust.stipud wrote:They never made a Ti sub (or any retail PG sub for that matter) bigger than 15.theburb wrote:titaniums....came in 18's for a little while they even sold dirt cheap when they got phased out....i wish i hadnt just watch them sit and fade away....
perhaps prototyped, but there was never an 18" titanium speaker, nor any other phoenix gold 18" subwoofer..
I'd even be surprised if it was prototyped in 18", as all sorts of titanium prototypes passed through my car, and I never even heard mention of an 18"
but its not impossible..
the titanium 15"s went about how you said, being offered in limited quantity and then sold off cheaply at F&F sales..

lol...i never went ported in my car before, i have always been old school sealed....but i been rocking port in my burb and stuff like that...so its a toss up because i know a car will never tunnel like an suv....but i think with 3 15's i can make doMackenzie wrote: Sealed?
