sounds more like the person got impatient, screwed up the install, and then made some poor choices in trying to fix it.

bit like coming to the conclusion that changing your oil is a bad thing, after you left the drain bolt out and drove around all week.
I'm afraid of widths.

I have seen a few systems all hosed up like this. Its all about a certain few viruses, and spy ware issue out the kazoo! Results all the same at or near 100% CPU usage, until you cancel certain ops. And it takes for ever to run anything. I usually F8 boot to safe mode and run anti virus, and spyware

I take care a of this elderly couples computer , and there Daughter (46 years old ) moved home and first thing their computer gets all loused up.

She had gotten on line and downloaded a bunch of kitchy software programs including a bunch of "so called Free music software programs"

Well 8 hours later the computer was restored and functional again. I password locked the Daughter out of the computer and the problem went away, after I gave a her a separate system to louse up away from her parents...Geeze Kids....

The funny parts is that the computer and I were suspect until I locked her out and the problem never came back

Where are you getting you bootleg stuff from ? Rapidshare Maybe ? Free downloads are like bar hopping I suggest you use double protection my friend    It gets mighty nasty out there on those share sites... ..Glad to see ya back, even if you are limping after your experience...C

I got the program from isohunt, torrent form.

As for protection? try this -

Zone alarm pro
Spybot Seek and destroy
Norton Anti Virus corporate with lifetime updates
Snoop Free privacy shield

More than enough I would say

In my past life I was a pc technician (past life being the one I threw away) and was in the same place doing contracts for schools and what used to be amstrad.

I've been on computers since I was 7 (Sinclair ZX80) and I have never seen anything as virulent as what I had the other day since the days of chernobyl/hiroshima which was a double named virus that would activate on a timer before flashing your bios wiped.

The fact is I got caught with my pants down. Adobe are a large, wealthy company and photoshop is the most pirated software ever. The only reason I use it is because I like it's plugins. Otherwise I would use paintshop pro 7 etc which costs ten times less ($99 instead of $999).

That would be why photoshop is the most pirated software ever.

It's not like I don't know what I am doing. I tried fixboot, fixmbr and all kinds of things from the recovery console. The bottom line was this software went un-noticed through my system and hosed the fucking lot. Registry, ALL backup checkpoints so they were all the same, it even removed large portions of windows.

There was nothing that could be done to fix it, and believe me I spent about 14 hours trying. Hardly like I can type every single method, the only one I didnt do was a ghost because the most recent version is pretty fucking stupid and doesnt take images.

Just one of them things lol

Do it man !

IMO the first one is still the best tuner game ever and the graphics are still utterly amazing.

The only problem is it won't res over 1280x1024, my desktop is 1600x1200.

The second one does though.. Im still torn between which one looks better.

2 has more going on graphically and the rain sure is fun, but 1 is more hardcore and menacing.

There are two things they improved (IMO the rest was buggered up) in 2.

In 1 if you clip a kerb you crash horribly. Now I know this is realistic but dang the game is so unforgiving if it happens anywhere on the last lap you will lose.

In 1 the game gets badly hard toward the end. The AI is pretty rotten and spiteful and you sometimes have to wait for them all to pile up just so you can win because even with a perfect race they will pass you 2 seconds from the end.

2 has brooke burke of course, but the bird in the first one is just as hawt

Adding stereos is kinda dumb in 2 also, pretty pointless really.
