RSd or wait for RSdC

Hey guys, first post here! Some of you might recognize me from ca .com, caraudiojunkyard, etc., but I haven't posted here yet.... but now that I'm back in the Phoenix Gold family (first amp was a M50, back when it first came out) I figured it was a good place to be

I have a pair of 12" RSd's that I haven't even installed yet, have a sealed box for them, 1.25cf each chamber, and will be using about 20 oz. of polyfill in each side. Power will be 1600w via a Cadence Daytona DCA-1600.1, so 800W to each sub.

I listen to mostly rock, metal, and *ducks head* country... some jazz and rap from time to time.... and my daily commute is 2 hours or so, so I want something to sound good, thus the RSd's in the first place...

For reference, front stage is RSd65cs comps, active off of a Cadence Daytona DCA-4100, using a Coustic XM6 crossover.

That was the long way to get here lol... the question is for those of you who have had the pleasure of using the RSdC's

Do you feel it would be worth waiting for the RSdC's to get back in stock and order a pair of them, or would I see minimal improvement over the RSd's with that power?

Has anyone heard the RSdC 10's yet?

Personally I think the RSDc 12 sounded a lot better in my car than my pair of RSD 12's... though I was far from the ideal setup. I'm giving them 250 watts off the back of my Ti500.4 (to one RSDc 12 or two RSD 12). Both types of woofers were in suboptimal enclosures (1cuft per sub). The comp seemed to be nearly as loud, had an easier time playing mixed notes (deep bass with quick upper bass hits), and was just all round.... tighter. The RSD 12's seemed almost a bit boomy when compared to the RSDc 12, or my RSD 10.

That said, if you have the equipment you might as well install what you have... see if it tickles your fancy. If you find it to sound boomy as well, then you could also try the comps.

I might be picking up a Comp 10 some day soon, just to see which I prefer. I thought the RSD 10 was nicer sounding than the RSD 12 (though not nearly as loud). If the RSDc 10 can sound as good, while being a bit louder, I think we will have a winner.

I'm definitely going to at least try the RSd's out (once it's not 15 degrees outside anymore)....

Would love to try the 10's out though too, so I'll be anxiously awaiting your review on those....

For some reason I've been shying away from 10's, I guess trying to convince myself that I'm more of a basshead than I really am lol

Truth be told my favorite sub of all time is the original 10W6, so I know I LIKE 10's, just haven't used them lately

for your taste in music, i think it would be worth waiting. the RSDc's are monsters

That's what I figured...... I may get impatient and just get the 10's since they're still in stock. Audiosavings won't have any more of the 12" D4 for 3 weeks at least

Just for curiosities sake (and the fact that they're actually in stock), how about 3 RSdC 10's instead of a pair of the 12's? Should be a similar cone area, but 3 motors > 2 motors....

They would only see about 450w each though (1300-1400 total) because of the weird coil wiring, but I like 3-sub setups

probably be a Tiny bit louder...but probably wont play lower....
So rock and metal etc...and such should be fine.

So what other PG goodies do you have?!? Tell us more about your self!
Especially for those that dont get out much!

haha right now these 12's and my RSd comps are my only PG gear, I've owned a few amps over the years, as mentioned the M50 was my 1st amp ever.... but that's about it. Always loved the stuff, but spent a lot of time trying to get "louder", only to realize that I never turned it up anywhere close to the full capabilities of the system....

I've reached a point where I just want it to sound good, though getting loud is still a nice by-product... and I still find myself slipping into that old habit

I'm one of the old guys, been around for a while.... took some time off in the middle, but back in full force for the last couple of years

Alright, I sold the RSd's because I'm, well, impatient

So, now the question remains, wait for the RSdC 124's to get back in stock, or buy a pair of 104's now (800w each), or buy 3 102's now (~450w each)

All setups will be sealed.... As much as I don't want to wait I'm leaning on waiting for the 12's

I'm sure that would still get loud enough for daily with 1600w on them.... the 10's should be able to take 800w daily, right?

So I know 1.2-1.8cf = good sealed for the 12's, though not listed in the manual that way...

How about for the RSdC 10's?
