Living on the old min. wages is impossible. Yes most people who are in those situations did it to themselves, but the same will happen to their children, and their children ect. it's a cycle IMO the needs to be changed some how and raising the min. wage is a start.
But that leads to another thing PEOPLE NEED TO STOP HAVING KIDS. TO MANY PEOPLE AROUND AS IT is now. We should do what china did....no more then two kids or taxed to hell.

Exactly what errin said. My buying power just went down. Do you think owners of business that pay minimum wage are just going to take that finacial hit? They are going to raise their prices accordingly to keep their bottom line the same
I agree the the quality of life needs to go up for lower income familys, but raising the minium wage is treating the symptom (in a VERY temporay way), and because prices go up proportional to the minimum wage, the familys that rely on that income arent any better off. The only thing that changes is now i essentially make less money

No, why target big industry they are the ones making money and creating jobs, target the government and publicly funded jobs first. Set that on a locked 10 year plan, no wage increases. Discontinue payroll/funding for redundant positions, In Oregon there is a commissioner for Cherries and commissioner for apples, a commissioner for pears...........etc how tough is it for one person to oversee all of the tree born fruits? Make publicly funded positions tax exempt and cut their pay by the appropriate 30-33% or what ever the equivalent taxes are, they are funded by taxes why pay them back? The government needs reform not more pocket oriented politicians there for personal gain, shit it all started as a civil duty not as a career to strive for or to retire from.
