Looking good! What's your plans for the rear of the enclosure?

Nice work Brenz! You're going to put a grill of some sort over the ports, right? I don't think you'd want to have to chase after something that fell into that box!

what? that would be too easy...............

i think the hardest part is coming now.

i have to decide to run one mq430 to my front stage or two ms250s
one per door, or last a nuther ms2125.

i actually like the sound of the ms250. it seems fuller then the mq430.

cant really tell since it takes me too long to swap them out but

laying these amps and trying to make the trunk look good is

starting to piss me off.

but ill figure something out.

are you missing a plexi for the one on the left? or just missing the plexi with the map? Also looks like you are missing a cover plate?

Just curious...hope you have them...otherwise everything looks awesome so far!

Out of curiosity, I've always heard that mounting the amps to the back of the sub enclosure isn't such a good idea. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I've been trying to think how I'm going to build my system, and mounting the amps on the box would work well for what I want to do, but I don't want to hurt anything. Anyway just curious....

That box looks damn nice man, I can't wait to see it all done.....

I've been known to tell my customers that they don't want me to mount their amp to the box, but my reasoning is different from what I hear on the internet all the time. I don't like amps on MOST boxes because MOST installs aren't permanent fixtures in the vehicle like brenzbmr's. In most situations where there is a box just placed into a vehicle's trunk I don't like the possibility of "one stop shopping" for the thieves. They grab your box w/ the amp attached and go. The other reason I don't like that type of install is all the exposed wiring when the install could likely be much cleaner with concealed wiring on the back of a seat or something.

Now, what I always hear people say about mounting an amp to a sub enclosure is that you'll cause damage to the amp from all the vibrations as the sub pounds away. Think about that for just a second. If a box is properly secured (and I hope everyone's is!) how much does the box actually vibrate!? I say not at all or at least very minimally. Some of you might disagree with me, but think about it in the context of an install such as brenzbmr's. With an enclosure that's constructed into the vehicle such as this it essentially becomes a part of the vehicle's solid structure. How would mounting it to the box (as is being done) be any different than mounting it securely to another solid piece of the vehicle that is in turn securely fastened to the enclosure itself :?: No difference at all.

IF you're worried about vibration caused by the subwoofer enclosure use a few rubber spacers between the amp and the surface it's being mounted to, whether that's the back of the enclosure or anywhere else in the vehicle.

Oh wow, I really rambled on that one! I guess it's just one of those car audio misconceptions that will never go away and I let it get me all wound up!

Back to the topic of brenzbmr's wonderful install!

thanks for the compliments

that box is bolted into the car, its braced like fort knox,

as far as vibration im not to worried about it.

that box is solid and i agree with above post about secured enclosures

the amps are scured with another 3/4 peice of mdf that is secured to the back of the enclosure.

wait unitll i panel this thing off and then the finale. all depends on how much i really wanna put into it.

tommorrow i will be finishing the third rack and im gonna finish the ports and then finally get this box together.

aloha

i have them all

im not gonna use them.

im gonna make new pieces that are part of a window.

then im gonna make a beauty board that covers all of the amps and

cleans up the trunk.

then if i get creative imgonna make a fiberglass beauty panel that has a window and im gonna kinda have it look like a viewing portal..
hard to explain

Thanks for the answers about mounting the amps. When I do mine it will be a very permanent install also, and where I want to mount the amps it will look clean and like it's part or the install.

Didn't mean to thread jack.

Can't wait to see the finished product here

WOWWWWWW......
First you design and fabricate such a special sub-cabinet; now you're showing those amps as well...
I'm impressed.
Really would like to hear it when finished..!
Compliments from over here.
I'm curious as what you'll be using in the end for front stage-amp[s].
