Mcintosh MX406 Wiring Codes (or owners manual)

Post by andy600rr »

I've just picked up a MX406 for what I consider to be a bargain price ($300Aus), but it did'nt come with an owners manual so I dont want to start hooking it up without knowing what the hell I'm doing.

Does anyone know what the color codes are for the wiring, OR even better, anyone got a manual they can scan and send to me in PDF??

Iv'e searched the net long and wide for this but to no avail. Mcintosh only have the brochure on their site, and all of the forum topics I've searched were to no avail

TIA.

Hmm, sort of.

I found a list of the standard wiring colour codes for Clarion units, but I'm still a little hesitant to take the leap of faith and put power to the unit.

Do you have any clues?

I'm 99.9% sure that I've got it right. Its just that 0.1% that scares me

the dc/dc converter wiring code for MX 406:

blue/white: amp on
orange: power guard (to power amp)
orange/white: illumination (connect to head light control circuit of vehicle_
brown: phone mute
red: accessory +12V

on the opposite side
yellow: to battery
black: grounding.

Stated in the Mx 406 manual.

Hope this help

Thanks SO much for your help.

This is how I thought the colour coding would be. It's nice to have it confirmed.

Cheers
