Previous setup was mostly ALL PG. Sold the car and bought a new car, was going all Alpine & Boston acoustics. The HU & amps are fine, Boston pro60s fronts are great, even the sl95s suprised me.
Here comes the problem, the Boston G5 w/GTR in sealed box. Feeding it 600w rms, just can't hit the lows like my previous xenon 12. I am feed up with this G5 and going to sell it, I though about having a ported box built for it, but I think with 600 wrms, it will blow.
Opinions needed, should I go ahead and buy a SINGLE rsdC12. Do they hit the lows like the xenon series, if they do, I am pretty much sold because I loved the xenon sub and still do.
If anyone wants to follow my build it's listed here

the quick answer is no. they dont hit the bone crushing lows like the xenon. the regular RSD are actually more similar to the xenon then the RSDc
The RSDc still has some amazing authority, and blends better then the xenon though.
i think the normal RSD is a good happy medium between the two.

Any suggestions on a sub?
I guess since I still have my xenon12, I could have a new box made to fit my car. Darn current box it's in is about 1/2 inch too tall.

Try the single RSD out IMO
in my experience with both of them, it plays ultimately as low as the xenon, just not as smoothly and the 20-35 range isn't as loud as the xenon, but the rsd is much more efficient, (but still handles all the power you can throw at it.) and to most of us, more then makes up for it the lost of db's in the 20-35 range with its output above that.
Bdubs wrote a review for it in the "review" section here, its worth giving a read
it looks underwhelming, but put in sealed box about 1.6 to 1.8 and i think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I love my RSDC 12. I know the Xenons and maybe plain RSDs can play deeper on paper, but the RSDC seems to be a lot quicker, even on low bass. With some subwoofers it mashes a whole lot of bass notes into one... with the Comp I hear each one individually. It sounds more like the musical instrument than a subwoofer.
RSD, RSDC or Xenon, you can't really go wrong however. I have owned all of them, and all were awesome. The RSDC just suits my tastes the best.

If you're willing to build a new box for a sub you're not entirely happy with, why not build one for the sub you know and trust? If you still have the Xenon then put it back in service and build a box specifically for it and your car. I think that might be your most cost effective way too.

Yeah, that's what I will probably do, but I think I am going to buy a rsdC to try out, if I don't like it I can always sell itgkitching wrote:If you're willing to build a new box for a sub you're not entirely happy with, why not build one for the sub you know and trust? Thanks for feedback everyone, will keep you posted on my thoughts of the rsdC.
