Well, the amp turned on! But the only remaining problem I have is that the only noise I hear from the speakers are bass thumps.

did you hit the LP switch on your amp?
did you connect the RCA's on the deck to the "subwoofer out"
my ex-girlfriend said "its car audio or me"
i've had tougher choices at a soda machine...
