Modify a TI to stay in HV mode?

Post by Jacampb2 »

This question is mostly out of curiosity, but is there a simple way to modify the zx or ti amps to stay in high voltage mode (aside from the obvious one of only running 4ohm loads with it), instead of switching to high current at low impedance? I know it can be done with the ZPA amps, at least phoenix gold produced documentation to this effect. I have heard that it can be done to the MS1000TA amps as well.

Thanks,
Jason

Welcome to the phorum Jason!

The ZX and Ti amps don't have high voltage/high current switching. What the switching does is select between higher and lower power supply voltages for the amp section. The only other PG amplifier with this feature is the MS275, but you have to switch it manually.
