What glue for surround repair

Post by Jacampb2 »

I killed one of my old school JL12w6's the other day. The surround started to seperate from the cone. It is not torn, just coming unglued. The cones are polypropylene and the surrounds appear to be foam. Not sure if the T1200.1 finally did it in, or if my great dane stepped on it, but I would like to fix it and probably throw the pair in my wifes Jetta. So, what kind of glue should I use? I looked at parts express, and didn't see any glue sold separately of their surround replacement kits. It is only about an inch of surround that is coming undone, so I expect the voice coil is still fairly centered, I should be able to just re-glue it, I hope.

Thanks,
Jason

I found the glue seperate from the kits at parts express. Exact same picture and description as the ebay add. I also found a lot of info saying white elmers glue, tacky glue brand craft glue, and contact cement are all good choices.

I think I may try some contact cement as I have it, and really have nothing to lose.

Later,
Jason
