Perhaps they are not hex but that "star" pattern ? You can buy those type of drives from specialty electronics shops. That's where I bought mine.

There are also quite a few "half sizes" in metric socket head screws. Most small allen key sets don't include them. I have never seen you amp, but I don't believe I have ever run across a actual socket head screw that was any kind of proprietary size.

was looking to open my amps up and see if they need caps replaced or not (i'd actually like this done regardless of them leaking or not...). i even emailed stephen mantz to ask which ones tend to need replacing and he answered "i don't know what you're talking about". that dude acts like he has nothing to do with series viii hifonics every time i emailed him, very short and never seems to want to be helpful. and here i was thinking he had customer service skills (i thought i read he was good about that).

i just pulled my lil pluto out of the loft to check the allen key size (7/64" 8) ) and thought i'd hook it up on my bench as i've never even powered it up from when i bought it! i was most delighted, it sounds way more powerful than the ratings suggest and was just lovely to listen to 8) this is one reason my series viii are staying with me for a long time :)

thank you so much :)

have you (or any of you guys, for that matter) had to replace caps in your amps? i'm figuring i need to, and would LIKE to have it done before i install these in my car. i STILL can't believe i own a zeus amplifier... when i was in high school, any hifonics amps were almost unattainable!

yeah i got a zeus too but all my viii are blue/grey, it's taken me ages to collect them as white ones crop up all the time but not blue/grey. there's something special about the zeus, it has crazy headroom!!

as for caps, these don't suffer like the pg amps do but i guess it wouldn't harm to swap them out...

yeah, i'd like to do it strictly for peace of mind.

i'm SOOOOO looking forward to running that zeus at four ohm stereo on my subwoofers (idmax, i think. what do you guys suggest?). i figure the old girl's been pushed all her life, so i feel i should be good to her and let her do her thing as easy as possible, with violent amounts of transient power :D

of course on the PG board i am going to convince you of the RSDc's prowess....if you have the means to listen to one...i really suggest it. not that the idmax isn't a kickass sub...i am just head over heels for the rsdc's. i they could have my children...i would probably go to California and get a official civil union with them
