Letter I just wrote to the lying cop

Post by mr tibbs »

As some of you may remember last week I went to court for a traffic ticket and lost because the cop got up on the witness stand and lied his ass off. I just wrote him a letter, I wonder how much trouble this will get me in!

Dear Officer Hales,

This letter is in regards to a court case that both of us were recently involved in. On December 10th 2007 we both appeared in 4th District Court about a traffic ticket that I received from you on October 9th 2007. I don't know if you recall this particular case, but I do. This was the first time I had fought a traffic ticket and it was definitely a learning experience for me. In this case I was found guilty of failure to yield to a pedestrian, and even though I accepted the judgment I still disagree with it. Even though I was found guilty that was not the thing that bothered me the most. The thing that really got to me is that you got on the stand and told a bold face lie. I don't know if you did this on purpose, or if you just do not remember my case, but you got on the stand and lied. I could not believe that a officer that is supposed to uphold and enforce the law would do that! I thought the police were supposed to be the good guys, why would the good guys have to lie?? Seriously, how do you wake up every morning and look at yourself in the mirror knowing that you have lied under oath? Was it a mistake? Did you not remember the case, or did you just knowingly lie for a different reason? Of course I can not prove that you lied under oath, but I know for a fact what happened that day and I know that you lied about it.

I waited a week to write this e-mail because I thought I was just upset about the judgment, but the more I think about it I realize that I am more upset at you about lying on the witness stand. I just can't fathom doing that for any reason, but I guess you have yours. I am writing this e-mail not to try and get out of anything, but more to express my disappointment in you as an officer of the law. Why do the good guys have to lie to get the bad guys? I just don't get it. So I would just like to say thanks for giving me a perfect example of what I can expect from a police officer. From now on I will be better prepared for such things in life.

Thank you,

Casey Smith

Well, the pedestrian that stepped out in front of me was not just a pedestrian, it was an under cover cop in plain clothes. When I approached the intersection I was in the outside lane and there was a car parked on the corner. The cop waited until the last possible minute and then stepped out from in front of the parked car right in front of me. I hit he brakes and swerved into the inside lane and barely missed the guy. I was then pulled over for failure to yield.

The cop said that I was in the inside lane and the cop was in the crosswalk on the other side of the intersection and I simply paid no attention to the guy and drove right past him. This was not the case, it was a bold faced lie. He was trying to cover his ass and the departments ass for doing this illegal sting operation. Also, the dashcam video of this particular traffic stop was mysteriously missing, go figure!!

I would get an attorney involved.

First have the attorney request the video evidence from the dash cam.

Second have the attorney request that the prior judgment be overturned if the video is not made available.

Third sue the department for attorney's fees, lost wages, and time involved in the matter.

Fourth sue both officers involved in the matter for attorney fees, lost wages, and time.

This will get noticed very quick and it will mysteriously be corrected after the video surprisingly reappears.

And you guys wonder why they wear bullet proof vests

Case my friend there are good cops and bad cops, and in court there are all saints till found guilty by a federal court of charges. Just remember they have guns and you are not supposed to own any < in their idea of a perfect world.

I saw 4 cops all with guns drawn at a stop light beat a womans head into a steering column till she collapsed and let the car slide forward and hit the car in front of it, as we were all stopped at a red light and the lady and her car were trapped by the light and all the other cars around her.

So the moral to this story is " He lied??? Is that all the cop did ??? He just lied ???

Get used to the authority abuse, its not new, and no one was looking in his case, only in yours...Sorry my friend... Live and learn, that unless its something they want, it ain't happening, and its always about what they want.... as they have the authority to abuse, not you.... :( :( :(

For what its worth I am sorry you have to see this sort abuse of power, and justice, but its the same all around. They played you in a sting operation, and unless you can get federal authorizes to pay attention to their little games I would leave that dirty cop alone if I was you. Dirty is as dirty does my friend, I would not be sending him messages that imply anything , even name calling, He as rights that exceed yours, he can have you re-arrested for any reason he wants to make up...

Have you sent it ? If not, I would remove your name from it. He may just crumple it up or if he's a real a-hole he may want to "teach you a real lesson". You just never know with some people. My buddy is a cop and quite honestly the stuff they can get away with is unbelieveable. I say send the letter in so you feel better but make sure its generic enough he can't figure out who sent it.

Afterwards go out and buy a Voodoo doll and torture the bastard !

I'm with Cecil and Me-262... sending hate mail to a Cop is just asking to be harassed. If you thought they were annoying now, you should see how it is when he writes up something nasty under your license plate. You'll get pulled over and harassed by every douche on the force.

Actually from here on out I'm just going to leave it alone. I said my peace to the asshole and that was all I was after. I doubt this will make a difference in this guys life because I'm pretty sure he accepted long ago what he was, a lying piece of shit that sells his dignity for $82 fines.

You went through all that for $82.00?
Even though you feel the cop was wrong in charging you, wouldn't it have been worth it to just pay and be done with it?
Unless someone has been misbehaiving behind the wheel and didn't need the "extra" coupon????
The only stupid question is the one not asked .......

Good for you in writing the email. It was well written and respectful. The officer might be an a-hole who doesn't care, but maybe he is some who has lost sight of his real objective and this might be an eye opener to him.

Nope, I haven't been pulled over in at least 2 years. I took it to court because I believe I was in the right, little did I know the cop would get up there and lie his ass off. It is now paid and done with.

i have to agree here cause not ALL cops are lying POS's and some just get caught up in the BS they have to deal with everyday.

i'll bet if we were cops and had to deal with some of the shit they deal with every day alot of us would become dickheads too.

My buddy is a pretty decent cop, he let's most people off with a warning or greatly reduces the fine for traffic violations. That is unless they start mouthing off to him. I've met my fair share of pricks out there but you'll also find some decent guys wearing the badge.

Not too great, it's a little bitter sweet. Maybe if this would have happened the day after court of the day after I wrote him the e-mail it would have been better. I guess that just goes to show you what kind of character some people have.
