I think the JL W6 grille snaps into the side of the sub basket... pretty cool design actually.
That's with the RSDC's???

AND THE JL Grills do have marking/badge emblem of the W6 on them.. be kinda weird for PG sub's w/ JL grills. it'd be one thing if no making/logo etc.. but it does actually have, so not sure if I am found of that.

I haven't seen the newer versions of the JL's but I know that the older mesh grills didn't have any markings as I had 2 original W6-12's.

Personally, I've never liked any of the sub grills that anybody has put out other than those ol' school JL's.
Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!

mhyde71 wrote:I would kinda prefer getting the rsdc's but there seems to be some complications with getting grills to go on???.. for me, and yes it's somewhat retentive, but i kinda like to have everything come together just so.. and I like to have screened in grills like the W6's. And appearantly with going with the RSDC's I wouldn't be able to have either one (screened grills, and grills by PG). I am a little impartial to the metal bars as grills as stuff still can protrude to cone/sub.. and they would also be just generics as well.

I really wish PG had grills specifically for the RSDC's.. kinda disapointing..

Do the Treo's have grills???

Worse case as I have always kinda of liked soundstreams spider grills I might look into whether or not those would fit on the RSDC's, if I dont lean towards the way of the Treo's. Functionally speaking I lean towards the RSDC's as they are rated just a tad bit more than the tTreo's. Realizingn that may not amount to a hill of beans.. but the 2250 is rated for 2 x 517WRMS and i think i would prefer to have a sub rated for at least that and quite possibly then some. Does that make sense?? hope so.

dont know if i answered or not.. protection mostly but looks secondly... Only thing keeping me from getting the RSDC's is lack of grill (Specifically a PG Grill), which kinda blows. how do they make a sub and no grill to go with it... maybe it's just me, but that seems kinda odd/disapointing.

I think the grills at the bottom of page 1 for the "old woofers" would be yer best choice and they happen to be on sale for half price at the moment. :thumbs: The only thing I'm concerned about is the rubber surround but that could be removed.

Okay.. but before I jump out there and do this, any one wkow about whyere to get them.. on the bay there is 2ohm DVC's but I feel confident that I need/want 4ohm DVC's.. I have an MS2250, and prefer to run it 2ohm stereo.

Has anyone known of running ms-2250 1 ohm stereo?? or 2 ohm Bridged?? I heard if trying to run 2 ohm bridged there maybe something to be watchfull for.. exspecially becasue of mine being upside down in cubby/propped open at best foir air flow?? Or maybe 2 ohm bridged?? is that a viable solution??

I thinkj I can overcome the use of a different grill... but now need to find who has the 12" 4ohm DVC for sale???

Love to see what it would do at 1 ohm stereo ( i thnk) or shall I just leave it be?? and wait until I find 4ohmer'z???

Matt, Id be waiting till you can get the 4 ohm DVC's and run at 2 ohm stereo as suggested.

Than way you can have 2ohm stereo or 4 ohm mono among your possible wiring configs which the original 2250 will be happy with. 8)

I figured I would graph the RSDC vs Treo SSI to see what acoustical differences they may have. I threw in the W6V2 as well, so you can compare to your existing setup.

Surprisingly, all three of them have almost the exact same response curve, with the RSD being slightly more efficient and deeper than the others (inaudibly so). Now, this does not mean they all sound the same, just that they should have approximately the same emphasis to notes across the band (i.e. no more low end or high end bass from any one to the other).

All three of them GREATLY prefer sealed boxes over vented, have the same phase response and group delay, similar excursion (JL has the most trouble with low end).

The only difference I can see is that the RSD has a very low impedance spike at it's resonant frequency (10 ohms), while the Treo goes to 35 ohms, and the JL to 45 ohms. Coupled with the lowest Fs and F3, this suggests that the RSD would probably have more control in the lowest notes.

Orange=RSDC12D4
Yellow=Treo SSI 12D4
Blue=JL 12W6V2D4

The W6 is no slouch. Honestly if there was no brand preference between these subs, I would have a hard time choosing based on data alone. My ears told me I preferred the RSDC over the W6 though, but even that is a very tough comparison.

If you want, we can A/B them in my car.

nah.. spoke to both and both have no 12" 4 ohm dvc's... and they do not know when they will as they have not heard from PG as to when they will replenish their stock... :(... i'd buy and even get order in and just wait if I knew of some grills that would go with them.. I'm syuck on the grill thing.. I might poick up a couple of those grills fuzzyhoe pointed out and maybe have them shipped to someone with RSDC's (i.e. B if up to it) and test them out.. if B has the RSDC's cant recall whta he said think maybe reg RSD's.. but maybe he can chime in. and remind me.

yeah me too... those spider joints.. I like them too.. but something could still protrude through and cause damage to speaker. unlikely though..

.,.be curious to know if they would fit over the RSDC's or TREOS??
