Original Tantrums. They were okay, but I recall you could buy a pair on eBay for $50 back in the day, and nobody was buyin em :shock:

my friend had them 2 dvc 12" in a sealed box. loud, worked well he just sold them for $100 in the box so not worth all that much

they could also be QX's...which are worse then the tantrums....i would actually rate them lower then the octane-R's
my ex-girlfriend said "its car audio or me"
i've had tougher choices at a soda machine...

the qx's actually got a very good rating in Germany at their time - believe it came in "spitzenklasse" (topclass) - haven't heard one tough so cant tell from XP

^seriously?

i owned a pair back in 98. they weren't especially efficient, they weren't smooth, not very good low end extension.


they were stolen out of our garage (along with many other items)

i replaced them with the XS series, and the XS series subs destroy them in every regard.
they really are a entry level sub, imo. they might be better then similarly priced Sony explodes and kenwoods at the time....but at the price you can find XS and Octane-ZR subs for, i don't really see a use for them.

^seriously - if i stumble across the test article again (only have like 300 magazines :D ) i'll try to give a short version of what they wrote - but from memory they said something like it was more SQ than SPL

Hell yeah I love my XS 12's way better than those QX entry level drivers

XS124 are good subs. I replaced mine with RSd subs mostly based on the fact that they match my RSd components although I do appreciate the fact that the RSds seem to extend a bit lower.
