Need advice

Post by deathcloud »

So my dad wants to "OWN" my system basically im a college student and hes my dad and has money to shove out. He is set on buying Boston Acoustic Pro60 and the thing needs 125rms to both speakers. Basically my question is what amp would you guys say would be the right one. I love phoenix gold amps (really love my rsd600.1 powering my alpine type-r cuz i ordered phoenix gold rsdc124 online so waiting till that arrives then ill return my alpine DONT TELL HAHA) so I was wondering if I told him to buy the Phoenix Gold Xenon X200.2 basically 200rms X 2 to the boston acoustics. Is that too much? Or is that a good match. I think it would make the speakers scream! Also for 149.99 wow.. what a steal. So let me know! Throw out some suggestions as well. He has a ford F-250 4 x 4

is that gunna be hard to find? We trying to do it ASAP cuz hes jelous of my system haha. and not to highjack or have two subjects I hope switching from my alpine type-r 12 inch sub to the phoenix gold rsdc124 is a good choice. I mean it looks meaner than the type-r but the type-r does hit hard maybe due to the amp rsd600.1

You can get it, sure no problem. I've got my ms2125 running my midbass 6'5 IDQ's at 2ohm. The 2125 is rated at 250x2 at 2ohm or somewhere around those watts, but I can control how much power i'm giving them from the stuff I have before the amplifier. The amp is turned all the way down btw and those IDQ's just love the power.

I'd say go for it or any other one for that matter from Phoenix that you can get your hands on :) Personal choice would be MS2125, M100, M50, the RSD or Xenon amps.

That RSD from what I hear should do you good.

Cheers,

Kevin

I found it here
http://cm.ebay.com/cm/ck/1065-29392-235 ... 0223519628

I got the last one. I think.

But yea I'll see about getting that titanium one and it ends in 6 days. Only thing is I dont really trust things that arent brand new on ebay. If it comes from a shop on ebay then I would buy it but from someone else.... u never know. But still that amp would be awesome.

Are you sure that the Phoenix gold Titanium 400.2 would be enough power for the Boston Acoustics? It only says 100 X 2 at 4 ohms but the Boston Acoustic pro60 need 125rms. Im really interested in buying that amp if it is going to be a good amp. Looks like a steal too.

Don even hesitate, that 100 by 2 is like 150 by 2 for most other amps, it is actually a very good match. Ya, that is a great deal on that amp, the ti series is very reliable, i would grab it quick if i were you!

Not to mention that Ti is a much better amp than the RSD you were considering...

I already have the rsd 600.1 for my car, the amp I was considering buying was the Xenon 200.2 for 149.99 which is brand new and has a 1 year manufacturer warranty. This Ti doesnt have that at all so pretty much if it goes out my dads screwed... So im a bit worried.

I wouldnt worry too much, but hey its your choice. And yes, the Ti is a MUCH better sounding amp than the Xenon, guaranteed, just ask around the phorum...

Ok just making sure. I believe you. Oh and by the way I ordered the rsdc124 sub because it said 1 available, the next day I get an email saying

"Sorry, but right now, I'm backordered on the 4 ohms. Can you use the 2 ohms? I have those in stock. "

WHY WOULD YOU SAY 1 AVAILABLE IF YOU WERE BACKORDERED????

For real. Sorry just ranting.

I bought an alpine type-r 12inch sub in the meantime to just have some sub until my rsdc124 arrives. But now I may just have to stick with the type-r because 30 days may go and I cannot return it for a full refund. Should I wait for a rsdc124 or just stick with the alpine type-r? Also because I bought it at my store I can get a 2 year replacement on it so if anything goes wrong I can get a brand new one ASAP rather than buying one online...

if you want the rsdc124 (4-ohmer)... contact khpower (kyle).. believe he just landed a distributor that can has confirmed he has the rsdc124's... I'm gonna try a pair of those out.
Let him know if you want a couple or so, as it might help with ordering for all of us or something...

and, hey, not sure if it is the exact consolation you would be interested in hearing, but albeit it is not under warranty (the TI 400.2), it's a good deal, and if something does go wrong with it.. I'm sure you could find one of us to fix it on here the phorum.

I can't speak for the RSD line because I've never personally heard them BUT the Xenon line is not inferior to the Ti line. Should be very similar as far as build quality and sound are concerned. I've owned several Xenon's. The Ti line is great but so is the Xenon, and I'm sure others will vouch for them.

I would not make the guarantee the Ti>Xenon. But like everyone else that's just my opinion take them for what they are worth.

Yea I think my dad will love it.

Again for further specification

Boston Acoustic Pro60 125rms
Phoenix Gold Ti 200.2 100rms (But you say its about 150rms in reality)

Sound like a good match everyone?
