Appeal of the Roadster66
Appeal of the Roadster66
Hey Guys,
I am looking at picking up a Roadster66, and to be honest, am second guessing myself. I was planning on a 2 12" RSDc Subwoofer setup. Now if I purchase this amp, it will do my 4 door speakers fine, but really only power 1 subwoofer. I would hate to have mis-matched amps (I show the car, and dont know if I want to buy an additional amp to power the subs).
I see the MSRP was quite high, but I am wondering why? I know it basically an all-in-one amp, with a 500.4 and 600.1. So why is it more than double what both of those cost together? Is it due to the aluminium and limited build? Or is their quality differences?
Thanks
John

The 600.1 side should do pretty well on a pair of RSd 12's. I guess it depends on the sub you plan to run though. You could always hide another 600.1 somewhere.......

Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!
Re: Appeal of the Roadster66
It's a limited edition amp, so you pay more. Simple as that really...
I run a single RSDc quite happily on 300 watts, so you could run your pair at 600 easily. However, why are you married to two subs? I think one sub at 600 watts would sound better, and save you a lot of trunk space at the same time. It would only be a 3 decibel drop with one sub compared to two, but having 600 watts on the one speaker would make it more controlled, thereby making it sound better.
I don't know why, but every Canadian I know just HAS to have multiple subs. My install is the only one I know of locally with only a single woofer

Re: Appeal of the Roadster66
I have followed the same philosophy myself for over 10 years, lotso power on a single 12" sub, although lately I have been wondering how a pair of 10's at 2 ohms would sound w/ 1500 RMS watts from my ZPA! LOL!stipud wrote:It's a limited edition amp, so you pay more. Simple as that really...

I run a XMax 15 on 300w and it rallies.......
It's not 4 Ti12's like my last install but plenty for my DD.

I am not married to the idea of 2 subs.
Since the car participates in a lot of car shows, multiple subs looks better, and often is easier to create that layout to impress judges. I have been thinking of ways to make the single sub solution work as well, and may go that way. I love the look of the roadster, and think a limited edition amp is pretty cool
I like the unique factor too!

I've always liked the single sub in the spare well with the spare as a "grill" but the wheel was an 18 and left plenty of room for the sub/enclosure.
Just an ider..............

Well then, as a showcar you've already spent more than you'll ever get out of it so why not..............
Maybe try finding one that needs repair and go that route......
As a judge, I'd be impressed. Especially if it was a useable spare. For some reason I always thought a matching spare in the trunk looked clean. JMO-
NOT TO MENTION- That wheel looks alot like the RSd grill anyhow.....
