Is a ZX600TI enough for a 12W7?

Post by STROKD »

So, I bought some ZX600Tis recently, and wanted to just use those so they all match. I was going to run one to the fronts, one to the backs, and I might get some kick panels for a third stage... the fouth one I wanted to run to the sub. Would that be enough power w/o shutting the amp down? I have a 1200.1 TI I just picked up as well that was going to run the sub (have this setup already and it SLAMS, super smooth and deep)... What do you guys think? Should I just get the new 1200 out and use it, or use the 600s so they all match? :? I don't want to underpower my new 12W7...

Isn't the RMS on the sub ~ 1000 watts? You may try the ZX600ti but the Ti1200.1 would suit the sub better. IMO. Or go with the 10W7 instead.

The 600.2 should sound fine, but the 1200.1 is obviously louder. I guess it depends on your priorities...

you got the 1200.1 you might as well use it. they will still match pretty good, they are still the same line of amp

Agreed! It's just extra wiring, and the 1200.1 will draw a lot more powa off my car, whereas the 600 will limit itself to what it can put out.

I don't know if it matters to you, but the 1200.1 is meant to make 1200 watts at 2 ohms
while the 600.2 is meant to make 600 watts at 4 ohms.

3 ohm sub hey? That's just rediculous :D

I agree with Bfowler then, the 1200.1 should have more power and more headroom.

yes 3 ohm SVC. can't parallel the coils to make 1.5 or 6 ohms like the old W6s... :(

Agreed, I had the same combo in my 05 Acura TL... Just curious if the 600 would keep up or not... It'd be a lot easier to install.

Thanks! Unfortunately, I only have those plus one of the sub flushed in a fake wall. That was my Real Estate car believe it or not, and I didn't want to take up much of the trunk.

I traded that car 6.5 months after installing the system (yes I took EVERYthing out of it) for my 04 Cobra... So I didn't have a lot of time with the system, just enough to know it sounded incredible, esp for stock front speakers. The TLs have a great stereo from the factory, I just made it a lot louder.
