component crossovers

so ive never actually ran a set of comps. so if i buy a set to run in the doors.. can i have the actual crossover in the rear.. or does it need to be in the door.. ?? what is a good range between crossover and speakers.. does it matter?

you can install it wherever you would like. if you install it in the trunk you have to use more cable, but usually makes for an easier install

excellent. ive got a tantrum set up amps n stuff and i would like to pick up a set of tantrum comps and put the crossovers in the back to match. thanks.
