My RSDc's are in, not sure what to think...
I have installed my 10" RSDc's in a .6 or so per chamber sealed enclosure, wired to 4 ohm bridged on my ZPA0.5, not sure what to think so far. First off, I dont have my line driver in yet, so I am at a serious disadvantage in terms of power right now. I also think they need some break in time along, some dialing in w/ crossovers, and my ZPA unleashed!

u definetly need( as ur aware) a line driver for that zpa, ( i run mine ported-2 rsdc 10s-, i dont care what anyone says( and trust me for the longest time i was ALWAAYS a sealed guy, but beyond the 3db increase in a ported sub, iregardless of brand, ive always noticed subs sound MORE accurate to me ported than sealed, or atleast in the last 2 years, andd ive used rsdcs, diamond audio D6s, and rockfords-kickers comps in old days( sealed), but, ever since i had my diamonds( which sound best ported) ive ( or my ears) have changed , and love and embrace the ports! oh yeah, when i first got into car audio back in like 1992, i always placed 2nd place in my power class, never first, never third, and that was off of running 2 12rockfords ported, theni switched to sealed, one 15 , then one 18, but that was many years ago-now i prefer 10s

Ya, my first set of 10's. 12's just dont seam to line up with my seperates like 10's do... Rather than having comps and a sub, it now sounds like one big speaker.

Bingo! This is basically the "holy grail" of car audio. If you can make everything sound like it's coming from the front speakers, you win!flogger11 wrote:Ya, my first set of 10's. 12's just dont seam to line up with my seperates like 10's do... They sound ok, not what I was expecting. They are a little boomy for my tastes, I am sure part of it is my enclosure volume. I figure I am at .8 net or so, not good! according to pg, this needs less than .5 net! I will be pulling them out today, doing a remount w/ some styrofoam to bring it down to .5 cu ft and doing a retake on these subs. If they dont suit my tastes, they will be up for sale on the Phorum today!

Re: set up
Thats a bit of power to fun the clone off of. about 3 times the power needed. You'll smoke that thing quick if yer adjustments aren't right. I'm under the thinking that it only required 150 watts.... I'm sure Steve can fill ya in as he has a clone in his install right now...mikelycka wrote: I will run them off the zx450 side of the reactor and the cyclone off the zx500
Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!

Wow! What a difference a little foam makes! The boominess is gone, they are quite smooth, tight subbies. I would like a little more punch from them, I may open the box back up and put a touch more styro in each chamber.... These subs have a chance of finding a home with me, stay tuned! (wish i had a pair of ssi treo's to side by side with)stipud wrote:You got D2's right? If so I call dibs on the other one![]()
Yeah, get em installed properly. I have my 12" in a 1cuft box, so for your 10's to be in nearly the same size... it's too big! Too big!

Much better.
The subs shouldn't sound "punchy" to the point of being artificial sounding. They are tight in such a way that it's just accurate... it sounds like the instrument instead of a subwoofer.
I can definitely sympathize... Every now and then I still miss the aggressive punch and output of my Xmax 12's. But once I hear that silky smooth accurate bass... dayum, the RSDCs are good.
Have you got the linedriver installed yet? They should wake up with a bit more power.

Yep, line driver in! What a diff! I figure I will give them a week or so, they truly are smoooooth sounding subs that completely blend with my comps!
