Hey, I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything about the latest amps from PG. Im sorry to say that my gf is running on a set of xenon amps from a couple years ago and they suck. I have heard good things in magazines about the RSD series but what do they know. I know there are alot better amps out there but the RSD's are affortable and this girl aint got a ring on her finger. Just want to know if it is worth my time and a couple bucks to upgrade because I am considering a used pair of boston 12.5lf and maybe a new component set for her because she screwed the eclipse components up running them without x-over. Anyone know of a head unit with a lock out setting?
The RSD amplifiers are the same as the Planet Audio/ Boss/ Soundstorm amps. I suggest you save your money and pony up for the ring then get her a better quality amp, try the Q Series, according to my dealers that have used them... You will not go wrong with the Q's

where the fuck did he get that bile from...
ask him what he's basing that on. the RSD's are a great built amp
boss 1400 watt amp

PG rsd1200.1 amp

ID Q 1200.1

i don't see anything on there that would suggest it's a better amp...i also don't see a CEA rating on their specs

Man, whats up now, is ID going into the amp business?? I think they should stick with what they do best and that is horns and speakers. I've heard a lot of people dropping them now though because ID doesn't want them to seel lower than the msrp. Not sure what's up with that.
RSD amps are pretty dam good if you ask me.

YO,
Im not dissing the RSd's Im trying to find out whats up wif em. My dude is a big believer in PG and Im not that hip. I hate to say I started out at the age of 16 thinking that JL audio was that absolute. Didnt take me long to figure out otherwise. I was impressed with xenon series for the money but you gotta understand Im trying to build a SQ comp setup and I've heard that the Rsd's are the same technology as the old stuff from some and heard the complete opposite from others. If they are still built like a brick house then Im interested because you cant beat the price. Im looking at stuff like Audison, Arc Audio, US amps and older Soundstream. I'm wanting to run a set of cd1 pro horns and x-65 mids and i have a single Idmax 12. I dont want to spend a grand on my front stage and buy amps that arent going to give me what i want thats all. Give me some feedback. believe me i wish i had the cheese to buy all ti stuff but honestly if i had that kind of money i would probably keep everything ID and go with the Q's. The bad thing is they arent cheap and the ONLY reviews i have heard are on Id's forum. I would like to hear that the Rsd's are great so i can get the ball rolling on this thing.

From a pure power standpoint the RSD amps are VERY clean and are the beefiest amps PG has made since the MS line (larger circuit board traces and input capacitance) what they lack is the on high end on board processing and features like XE.load (keeps the power the same at 1-4 ohm) that the high end PG lines had.waynehead wrote:YO,

sounds like you are going to be doing out side processing anyway, so could be a very good choice for you

Hey waynehead, I like them very much. They are full bodies, but if I had the cash I would grab some cd1pro full bodies though. You DO need at least a 15 band eq to get the best out of the horns though, but they are impressive to say the least. They don't need much power at all to run them.waynehead wrote:Hey soth,
How do you like your cd1e horns.

i used to run phoenix gold till they sold out....another good quality speaker for the price is kenwood excelon, not subs though
I got this off an SRT-4 forum. Why is it that everyone thinks PG "sold out".

i guess cuz made in china now?, but, i think bfowler said it bests, the pg engineers are still laying it out for the makers on what/how it should be made, not sure if im 100 percent on that, still havent tried the rsd 6.5as yet, but, for the $ amount shipped, why not? i luv my 2 rsd 1200.1s, even though i use ti amps for my mids/highs, but thats just me
IIRC PG amps are made in the same factory (in South Korea, not China) as JL audio. Why aren't people bitching about JL selling out in that case? Both PG and JL have in-house engineering with an asian manufacturer. It makes sense to build amps there, since that's where all the components (capacitors, transistors, etc) come from anyways.thedeal7235 wrote:i guess cuz made in china now?, but, i think bfowler said it bests, the pg engineers are still laying it out for the makers on what/how it should be made, not sure if im 100 percent on that, still havent tried the rsd 6.5as yet, but, for the $ amount shipped, why not? i luv my 2 rsd 1200.1s, even though i use ti amps for my mids/highs, but thats just me
This is the only thing that allows them to stay competitive in a market where all of their competition has cookie cutter amps, designed AND manufactured overseas. Ignorant consumer sees 1000w amplifier made by HangDong industries, or they see the 1000w made-and-designed-in-USA PG amp for 5x the cost. Comparing watts to watts, most people will probably go with the "HangDong" amp.
