It's a older, but fairly high end soldering station. Retail new a few years ago was about $600. It is ESD safe and adjustable from 200°F to 850°F. It will be replacing my trusty old radio shack soldering iron. I have never had even a remotely good iron, and I am told that these higher end units will make even the biggest PITA jobs a breeze. The guy has one more that I am trying to win too, and if I get it, I may turn it into a hot air pencil for SMD work.

Nice score. One tool that I NEVER lend out is my iron. Tip maintenance and good quality solder makes all the difference.

Just thought I would share. I built a work shop in the basement during my vacation from work last month. I finally have it pretty well set up. Here is a pic :)

Well, I can browse the phorum, but I mostly put it down there just so I can easily look up data sheets and what not. I currently have 5 computers on my home network, and all of the others are much more comfortable to use than this :)

Most of my PG collection is boxed and stored on shelves just off camera though. Once I get it all moved down there from the outside shop, I will take a picture of them.

The power supply is an older pyramid 12V 50A regulated supply. I got it for free when the car stereo shop I used to work at closed down. It was the PS that ran the demo wall.

They are actually very good regulated supplies. It seems to be the one thing pyramid got right back in the day (if it is even the same company).

I also run the 52 amp Pyramid power supply. The only problem I ever had was trying to run a high current amp at full power but every PG amp I have used doesnt even hurt the Pyrimid.

Yeah, it is really nice having a tree nearly push in your foundation, having to pay big $$$ to get a lot of block work fixed, fighting off spiders if you don't go down for a few days, and trying to keep it dry during downpours. Aside from that it is really nice, and always a cozy temp... :D

I do like having the little work shop down there. It means I can go down and tinker while I am home w/ the during nap time.
