Tough choice, two or three RSDc's...

Post by flogger11 »

I am building my custom box tomorrow and I was thinking. It wouldnt cost me a dime extra to build a three chamber enclosure vs two chamber, along with how inexpensive the RSDc 10's can be had and I have plenty of power to spare, so I was considering adding one more woofer! I would snip my ZPA0.5 and should get somewhere around 450 watts per driver with the 2.7 ohm load, just enough. Any opinions guys?

I would . if you can afford it do it 8) You may only notice a slight difference compared to two but at least its a improvement.

My .02 cents

The big thing is I have the room, they will be tight (I have apprx. 31" of width available), but hey, they only require .42 or so gross each chamber! Maybe just build the 3 chamber enlosure w/ two subs in it for now, adding the center sub when I have the extra bucks?? Then clipping my ZPA? More input, more input!

i used to run 3 10s, now i run 2 rsdc 10s( my 3 were diamond d6s-not bad subs at all), however i got sick of a weird ohm load2.66, but with ur zpa cant it get to one ohm??? if it can, which im sure it can, go for it, but yeah definetly seperate chambers, if u decide u dont like it , use a pg logo( cut out of wood) to cover up the center sub hole-just my 2 cents; plus, i understand, u gotta try it to see how it sounds, but, just 2day i took out my 2nd rsd 1200.1 sub amp- i was running each dvc2ohm rsdc 10 off each rsd 1200.1( which is more like 7-800 at 4ohm, individually, but i had to unhook and hear it just at 2ohms and i luv it this way as well, plus its gonna draw less current than running 2 rsd 1200.1s- it was killing my alternator, and on a audi a4 stock( bosch h/o15o amp-is like 550 with the core, sooo hard to find a h/o alternator for A4, even vw, which would work-thats why i run 2 small stinger gel batteries

I have had no luck finding a dual 10", .5 cubic ft per chamber, 3/4 " MDF sealed enclosure anywhere or I would try that first. Anybody know a retailer?

I think I am going to try to make the pair work, with the correct box there will be even more output than what I was running before. If I snip my 0.5 and load er up with three subs, it will put more stress on my charging system than it can handle (I am already up against the limit).

You're talking less than 1.5dB of difference between two and three subs. It makes the load more awkward for your ZPA as well. IMHO I would stick with two subs and a 4 ohm load as well. Having more power on two subs will just make them more controlled.
