Car audio insurance?

Post by oxphatxo »

Anybody out there have theft insurance on their vehicles for more than $5000? It seems State Farm won't go higher than $5000.
Thanks

just get renters insurance... it's covered under that from what progressive told me.. but I rent.. perhaps you do not.. maybe home-owners insurance with that included somehow is way to go if you own versus rent..
I think Geico allows for as much as you would like providing it can be prooved/prooven whence it gets stolen or damaged.

shiiiit I have 5K worth of stuff between the HU, (and accessories along with it) and the dual INViSiON DVD Headrests alone!!! (see/look at my signature and look up some of that stuff (cell phone (HTC TyTN II) I paid $699.00 for that...)) never mind the three MS amps and Sub's and speakers (co-ax's and comp's) and all other shit.... this is of course figuring a "retail" value.. for which I actually paid for them/it some time ago.. HU (AVICZ1) $1800.01 (1800.00 + .01 Shipping from 6 ave.com 2 years ago)... so the shit does add up after a while for sure.. but of course it depreciates.. but as far as insurance is concerned they want to see what you paid for it or what it would cost to replace. I had inquired about 6/8K Insurance not too too long ago in fact and that's how I kinda had that info.. as it was told to me by the sale's rep's there.

anyways.. yeah 5/10/15 K isnt all that heard to get too after a while of paying retail for most and ebay prices for rest... I would hate to think what I would be looking at if I paid retail for all the MS amps.. geese... probably wouldn't/couldnt do it....
Didnt the MS1K's original sell for the likes of 10K anyways??? throw one of those in they could legitimately be insured for 10K or better as things do get a vintage value assigned to them I would think... kinda like buying a rocking chair in the 20's for 25cents... still have it having it been passed down and now an antique/vintage.. could legitimately be appraised for 5K perhaps??!?!

No, I actually WANT to be covered for what I own. My vehicle could easily be followed after being seen and then stolen later on. I used to be quite a little cocksucker when I was younger and I have seen what some people will do in my neighbourhood. Think like a theif. I will gladly pay $100 a month to cover my system, and the HOURS upon hours of my time put into it. Which by the way is priceless seeing as how i'm capable of sometimes easily making a grand a day being self employed.
But like mhyde says, it's what the MSRP value is that the insurance company is looking at, not what you paid for it. So when you calculate it, yeah, my system is almost at 20 g's, not quite, soon enough though.

Try calling progressive or Geico... and see what they say.. but when My last system was stolen and I called progressive to cover it as I had full comp and collision.. I was denied and told by them that I should have taken out(or added it to) my renters insurance.

Prices seemed resonable but living in the mountains of Vermont ... suppose it can happen (as it did with the Rockford System I had 3/4 years ago).. but just unlikely up here and since then I have a much more sophisticated install that prooves much more difficult to steal/rip out now. SO I havent/didnt go that route, but thinking recently that i might look into it again and see what the story is...peace bro - gotta go get horizontal!

so im not sure what gear is in your car...but it seems like if its 20k, it is probably some super rare gear, that even if covered wont be easy to find again!

(not that the cash isnt nice too...but...nevermind...just thinking aloud)
my ex-girlfriend said "its car audio or me"
i've had tougher choices at a soda machine...
