Its not like you are going to wreck them (although it is not good for your subs), but your sound will suffer immensely if you dont have a 100% seal.
Alpine CDA-9887
PG ZX-450 v2
PG ZPA0.5 v2
Polk SR-6500 (active)
(2) PG 10" RSDC-104 (sealed)
PG PLD-1
PG 1/0, 2 Farad cap
Dynamat Extreme Door/Trunk
(Anybody have a HO alternator for a late model Accord V-6?)

the box does a couple things, 1st it acts as a chamber to isolate back waves (have you ever hooked up 2 subs, with 1 backwards and they cancel each other out? the sub moves but hardly any sound? same principal)

it also acts as a suspension for the sub. when the cone moves it pulls on the air sealed in the box. if you have a leak you are compromising this push and pull

okayy well i think my box might be sealed all the way it has about 1/8th inch of caulk sealing it on one side for a little though. That was really the only possible problem. Does it really matter what gauge wire is used from the amp to the subs?

it matters, but as long as yer using a minimum of, i think, 16ga for this setup you should fine...i believe 14 or better would be recommended though
what if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?
