Using small Gauge wiring....

Post by Slippin3 »

Hey Guys,

So my car has Molex plugs in the doors, and running new wire is supposed to be a huge bitch through them. So where better to ask advice?

I am thinking of running 14ga wiring from the amp to the wiring harness. From there, let the stock wiring take the rest of the run. My problem is that I think the stock wiring is about an 18ga (its a 2004 Mazda3). I feel a little bit like I am copping out here, but at the same time, will there be an audible difference? I am going to run a RSD 500.4 to the door speakers, so thats a fair bit over powered...... so any drop due to small gauge should be negligible, right? right?

I am running 12ga to the subs though! :)

honestly...your probably fine.

you could always hook up a run outside the door and listen and see if you think the 18awg is the weak link...

And if you determine it is, you're drilling out those plugs :o
