AX406a vs MX3i

Post by fuzzysnuggleduck »

Well, I'm thinking about trying out an active setup. I guess I just want to tinker around a bit again, which I haven't done in a while

I have an AX204a right now to cross my sub and comps and I like it. I like the idea of RNETs a lot but I'm thinking that using an RNET-based xover for tinkering around on an active setup is going to be more pain than fun... which is why I'm considering an MX3i. Keep in mind, I want a more or less "matching" setup to my M amps and white accessories from the same era so I'm somewhat limited in my options. Even an MX3i has different silk screening but I can live with that :)

So, functionally the MX3i will be much faster, much simpler tuning than the 406a for which I'll need to build a ton of RNETs for. But will I be frustrated with the precision of MX3i? Who's used them and liked them? Anyone used one and not liked it?

Any input would be great.

To add a quick note, I will be looking to buy one or the other sometime soonish so if you got one you want to sell, sell me on it!

ive got one recently from Greg, but i also recently sent him the money for his second, i like it alot, and i prefer variably on the xover b/c it gives u( imho) More control and easier to adjust than the old rnets- i also have a tantrum tx2(@12db/octave, and a audio control 6xs, which is like bnib, but probably similar to the 406a b/c u can put different rnets in it 2 change freq values
as she walked out the door she expressed, 'enjoy your amp addiction'
