DBL sided Copper board etching

Post by smgreen20 »

I might have to replace part of the board on the M50 I have and I'm looking for Eric's review of the ZX450 that he had to do that to as well.

Does any one kn0ow how to use this etching solution and what the process's are for doing so and all the materials I'll need.

Our local electronics store has the stuff, but it seems that even after S&H I could get it cheaper from parts express.,

Help would be greatly appriciated.

The stuff I used to use was easy... just draw on the traces you want with a sharpie, then dunk it in etching solution. You can print transfer them too, but you have to be careful to touch up afterwards, otherwise there may be breaks in the copper.

So the permanent marker has something in it that wont let the etching solution eat at it huu?

So it's that easy???

It just keeps the etch from soaking into the copper pretty much. Yeah, it's easy ;)

The hard part is doing it without breaks (though most are easy enough to fix with a bit of solder). Unless you have a printed layout, it's damn near impossible to get the layout perfect too.
