I was wondering, could you use the ti 6.5 mid as a midbass and the 5.25 as your mid? Also would a pair of 6.5s as midbass work off their own zx450?
Thanks,
D

You could, assuming you got the right crossovers for all of it... but I don't think the Ti 6.5" drivers really drop down super low... the RSd 6.5's would be a better choice if you're not going to go for a purpose-built midbass.
But, I assume you're asking because that's what you already got.

How low do you need them to go? Do you have a sub? Midbass range would typically be from the x-over point of the sub .. 65-80hz to 220hz-ish. The ti 6's can handle that range well. Utilizing the x-overs on that amp you could easily create the band-pass for the midbass.
What other amps do you plan to use? You could use the zx's output to feed the amp for the 5 & tweet. Are you using the passive for those?

midbass
currently there is this:
a/d/s ph15.2 : 100x2 to a/d/s 346is mids - 50x2 to a/d/s px tweeters,
zx450 2 ohm x 4 to 2 dvc IDQ 12
Nakamichi 3way active xover
alpine cda 9887
pg tld 66
1997 jetta daily driver..
I'd like more midbass and saw the power handling of the ti 6.5 and bought them to replace the a/d/s, but after seeing the shallow depth thought of adding another of the zx450's I have to run some as midbass about 65-250 and getting some 5.25 for the 250 to tweets. In the Jetta there is not much room in the kick area for depth.
Also I'm somewhat disappointed in the a/d/s, as the last set owned was 325is and the 346 mid doesn't compare, after the reviews of the ti thought I'd try them, but unfortunately this morning found the basket was about .25" wider than my mids so need to do some trimming to the speaker mounts made for the doors..
You can find some new cx64's but the reviews of the ti's seem better, in any case think I'd like to go back to a 5.25 mid as the voices seem more accurate under high volume ( maybe that's just my head

If you utilize the zx450 for mid bass what then would you do for your subs? I notice a 3-way active x-over in your list. Are you using that as a 2-way upfront and sub? If you're gonna do a 3way up front then that would work for all channels going to the front stage and then use the amp x-overs to do the subs LPF and the zx's high pass to limit how low you want the 6's to play. Effectively creating a 4-way active system.
I think you would definately like the ti 6's in that set-up. It should be a kick-ass system. Although adding a 4th amp may hinder your daily drivers' cargo room

yes
I was thinking of using the 1 zx450 to the subs and another for the midbass, using the front out of the deck using the hp xover inside ( cda 9887 ) to the 3 way Nak for the tw/m/ mb & the deck sub out xover defeated to the sub zx using internal lopass
would that work? are the xover inside these alpine decks any good?
Also just picked up an a/d/s ps5 for some rears, now up to 4 amps for a car that was only going to be 1
Also does anyone here have experience with the IDQ 12 in ported enclosure? As there is a box tuned to 27 hz I was considering if the ti6 idea would work.

Yes, that would work too. You could always use the head unit x-over for the subs too. It may make adjusting things simpler. As for the quality of their processing, as long as the Alpine is functioning properly, it should be sufficient. You could always try both ways without too much trouble. Listen to which way sounds better.
