US AMPS OPTIMIZER QUESTION ASAP

I hope to get answer before the two that are up are gone.. but here's the ?

On the MS series gear, which I have, I see that the max voltage input is 15.5... no good running it at 16v, certainly the obvious would be to run the optimizer at 14.4v... but what advantages are there for doing so??? better SQ, easier on amp?"? or just more power with less gain input??? i have no idea.

I also see that on the optimizer it says a maximum output of 100A... given that Watts = Voltage X Amps (less distance)... so seeing how on the optimizer you can only get 100A, does that mean the most juice your gonna be provided or able to obtain is either 1440watts or 1600watts??? depending on if you run optimizer at 14.4 or 16volts?? and would I even be able to run it at 16volts seeing how the manual states 15.5 maximum voltage input on the ms series amps??

Or should i just save/keep my money?? Also curious to know... I have a 200A HO Alt, does the optimizer now make the HO alt obsolete... seeing how it will only throw 100a output max???

I don't have any experience with that product, But from what I gather, whether or not it will help depends on what voltage your amps are seeing and what voltage they're regulated to, if any. This is power from the battery, not signal (RCA) voltage. If your amps are not regulated, then you will probably be able to get more power from them.

The max input voltage you're citing on the amp is signal voltage, so that doesn't matter with that product.

are you sure.. about that 15.5 maximum... look on specifications of the MS owners manual it reads: " power supply operating range:.........10.0Vdc to 15.5 Vdc" that's power rating(s) input, not signal... Signal is 200 MV to 5 volts. 15.5volts through signal would blow the signal path right up i think...

here's the item i am referring to.. it takes the 12.5 (+/-) Vdc and flips it up to 14.4 or 16 constant power voltage.. nothing to do with signal path.... this is strickly power voltage stuff...

Sorry. You're absolutely right about that.

I doubt you'd see much benefit with that thing. Really depends on what your amp is seeing, and if you can actually use the power.

amp is seeing no more than 13.9, but it fluxuates from 12.5 - 13.9.. depending on idle or not, how loud, what kinda of track is being played, lights on or whatever.. just thought that with this piece it would give me the "as advertised" 14.4 constant and be much better sounding, and perhaps even better for amps to be able to turn gains down and stuff and have same output..?

You could maybe get more sound out of it. Maybe. That would also depend if your speakers can handle any more power than you're giving them.

It's pretty expensive, too. It definitely won't hurt. I personally wouldn't buy it for ~$400, but it's totally your call.

yeah no, I decided against it.. i didnt think it would give me 400.00 of improvement(s)

I got better things to smoke, buy, use instead with that money there...

They actually work quite well especially if you have an amp with an unregulated power supply due to the ability to adjust the voltage up thus getting more in return from your amp. Also they claim to filter noise as the optimizer also acts as a power conditioner.

But unless you just have the money to burn I could think of better toys to play with for the money.

Also it would not make your 200 amp alternator obsolete you still need the high current it supplies the optimizer doesn't give you more current.

jacobs electronics accuvolt fr-1500 I believe is the model # for the only comparable product that I am aware of.
