Is my affection for the MS1000 healthy?
Is my affection for the MS1000 healthy?
I used to own a original ms2250 back in 1994. It drove two 18" (pa type) pro Cerwin Vega Strokers in 4ohm stereo. They where situated behind the sofa in my good old Ford E350. I never had so much fun in a car with my clothes on! That amp had total control of those huge drivers.
In my new build I'm "setteling" for one 15" car stroker with 4ohm dual voice coil. I'm thinking of using my old mps2500 in 2ohm bridged load to drive my 15" stroker. I cant find space to fit more subs in my car. My disability requiers me to take my wheelchair with me everywhere so I'm driving a Mercedes Sprinter. That car has a huge passenger compartment, and I want to get a bit more punch out of my single stroker. Last year I stumbled across that amazing ms1000 amp. I fell in love with it straight away! Two ms2250 in one long amp. What a genious idea. But my holliday set me back to much to go through with the deal.
The 4ohm dual voice coil on my stroker makes it impossible to get all 1000W out of a single ms2250, but a ms1000 would give me 1000watts on each coil. I know thats a bit overkill, but it should give me lots of headroom.
Perhaps two ms2125 would have been the best choise? How much will that set me back? Have anyone tried one ms2125 in 2ohm bridged load? Is it stable if you give it enough power?
I can get my hands on a ms1000TA. It's been offered to me for a price about $1.700. Is that a fair price? What other options do I have in a price range from $800-$1000? It must handle 2ohm bridged loads. Optionally give maximum power in 4ohm stereo. My stroker can handle 1200W continuous unclipped power.
Perhaps anyone know a ms1000 looking for a divorce?

i think 1700 for a ms100 is steep. 1000 - 1200 is what i see them normally go for. although, in the euro market that might be normal. nico can likly set you straight.
and as long as you don't have place in your bed for the ms1000...your affection is healthy!

BEWARE!! your affection for a MS1000 is NOT HEALTHY!!!
Before you know it your bank account is empty, and you will own TWO of them...
Over here a MS1000 is so rare... they go for about 1000-1500 euro's.
[that's around $ 1500-2300].
My first advice when buying a used one; check the [white] connectors on both sides for cracks, they brake easily when moved around/ shipped, and are nowhere to be purchased anymore except maybe [when your REALLY lucky] a used one

Nico, stop posting porn pics!
Two naked ms1000. It's fun to watch. But like porn, it's not realistic. My mps2500 is like a perfect housewife. No matter what kind of workload you put on her, she still performs excellent!
Perhaps I will stick to my first love. My fling with the ms2250 was a blast, but didn't turn in to true love!
