PG Xenon 200.4

Post by deathcloud »

Does this amp really produce 200 RMS X 4?

If thats true I can't believe I didnt get this amp. This would rock my world. 200 RMS X 4?????? No way? I think I might have to just switch out all my amps now if thats true and theres no cons of this amp.

I was going to have Ti 600.2 for fronts, Ti 400.2 for rear

or

Xenon 200.4 and just power it all with this amp and have lots of headroom.

Opinions?

Why doesn't everyone own this amp? How are the slope? 24db? Is it clean? Should I make the jump from doing Ti 600.2 Ti 400.2 to just doing the Xenon and call it good?

its pretty big....some people think they are hidious (i am not one of them)

i dunno the whole xenon line kicks ass imo. i am a big fan

i don't use one because i don't need that much power for full range. i only run fronts and a sub, (i use a 200.2 which is 1/2 of it and a x600.1)

its SUPER clean, the most advanced amp pg has built. it has linkwitz riley 24db crossovers with adjustable points on each.

it even makes full power at 8ohms bridged

The sound is very clean from what I've read on here. And by the layout of the amp, it should be, in theory, the cleanest sounding amp PG has made.

The slopes are 24 dB/oct w/indents so you know what freq you're at via the owners manual.
"ZPA's will have the same sound essentially as you get from the MS, they just feature a bigger shinier set of balls."

ok well I think you just sold me on getting one. It would technically take up less space then getting two 2 channel amps IMO and I dont think it looks hideous. and the power would be great for both my rsd65cs front/rear components. The rear I am not gunna have the tweets installed just the speakers so it doent really mess with my sound stage.

Once again, I'm with this guy^^^

I tried the Ti line, then went to the xenon line based on the D class monoblock (much friendlier to my electrical system), and I fell in love.

I run an x200.2 for the fronts and an x1200.1 for the subs, Instant recipe for hearing loss....

That being said I have thought about buying a 200.4 and using 2 channels to power a component set and 2 channels to power some 8 inch Midbass in the doors. That with a 1200.1 for subs should be all I could ever want......until I come up with something else to want....

I love my 200.4. I paid retail price from a dealer for mine and I feel it was completely worth the money.

i have been running an x200.4 for about a year now - and i love it for the clean power it is able to give - it sounds better than other amps because of the amounts of undistorted power you can get from it - and i have just gotten an x1200.1 - so i will be running the x200.4 for my front stage only - and the 1200.1 toward my sub

for the moment while im redoing the install i have my sub (morel ultimo) connected to the 400 watts from a pair of bridged channels on the x200.4 and it can still pack a mean punch

it is a problem to put two amps of that size into a small hatchback vehicle but its going to be so worth it in terms of the sound these things can produce due to the extra headroom as well as processing features

also since these are old amps - the prices are terrific now IMHO - i got my pair for around the equivalent of $600 (could have gotten them cheaper but i was getting a good all round deal from the guy i bought those from as well as a local warranty in South Africa)

so question, do i have to hook up both power terminals? Advantages? Disadvantages? When I install it should I just do both of them or just hook it into one side. Also I cannot wait because by the time I get the xenon 200.4 I ordered i will have my SLD-44 as well wow... so excited. two pairs of rsd65cs front and rear for my car = ownage. I am now debating on getting 2 rsdc12 inch subs instead of one lone ranger.

its recommended, especially if you plan to bridge it.

that's 800 watts of a/b power and sometimes 1 4awg run doesn't cut it

advantages: give your amp all the power it wants to put out the rated power:
disadvantages: more wire, blown amp.

btw, xenon's really come alive with a line driver...im running about 10volts to mine

wait wait wait... so if I am only running my 4 rsd65cs speakers off of the xenon then i really do not need to use both of the power ports. I am not planning on bridging it... BUT HOWEVER if it lets my amp have all the power it needs by utilizing both power ports then I might as well. I couldnt see any harm from doing this. I think. 10 volts? Nice i can't wait to hear it for myself.

If you're planning on using both power terminals, perhaps you should consider a 1/0 run from the battery and then branch out with 4AWG from a distro block. Do that for your ground as well.

The 1/0 will cost more than the 4 (I would think), but at least you won't need to pull two 4 all the way from the front to the back. Plus, it leaves options open for other things to branch off the block.

i don't think the xenon will just flat out fail without duel 4awg's...but that thing is a monster, and their is no functional downside to it.

i think you will be a happy man when its pounding away

hmmmm.... would I be fine if I just had 4 guage to the back, split in a distro with 4 guage to the amps or am I going to have to upgrade to 1/0 guage... That just means more money to a poor college student and I dunno if I could afford that.

i had one and sold it. i had it running 8" components up front and a titanium eclipse 12" sub in the rear. unbelieveably powerful and awesome sounding. i ran 4ga but i had a pretty big kinetic battery next to it. i have an octane r 9:0:5 5 channel now running in 3 channel mode and am pretty impressed with it.

so am I gunna be fine running 4 guage from my battery in the front to the rear then splitting it into 4 guage to the amp or should I just get 0/1 guage and run it to the back split into 4 guage. But I really do not think I need 1/0 guage as i am going to have only 2 amps the Xenon and my rsd 600.1 which doesn't really draw that much power...

Ok sounds good. I'll have to see how much money I got this paycheck. Then figure out how much wiring I need. I have put in Auctions of Interest section where they are I guess selling X200.4 for pretty good prices and if you wanna get one then get it! haha

it at least needs its own 4awg. DO NOT run a single 4awg back and then split it to the x200.4 and another amp. it will certainly make the amp let smoke out
