Xenon Parts and Repair

Post by M3NTAL »

I just picked up a Xenon X1200.1 off of ebay, but it is missing its rubber grommets. Anyone have an idea where I might be able to pick some up at?

Also, for future use - who repairs Phoenix Gold amplifiers.

Thank you.

welcome to the phorum!

i might have a extra set of the rubber grommets, i will check my box of goodies.

normally i would say call pg direct and ask for phil in parts becasue he has TON''s of odds and ends like that...but alas he is not at PG anymore. could be worth calling and asking for parts department anyway though.

as for reparis, it might get a little tricky as Xenon boards use Surface mount parts/baord and not the normal through hole board.

PG has a flat fee on their website for repairs. you could try calling other local places that do SMD's, but pg's flat rates are pretty reasonable

so tell me your screen name has something to do with a m3

Thank you very my Bfowler. I will be calling PG tomorrow.
Going to see if they have any Onyx covers available too!

Yes, I have two BMW's - an E36 M3 and a R53 JCW Mini Cooper S.

Have a X200.4 shoved into the hatch of the Mini powering a set of Image Dynamic XS65 components. The X1200.1, not sure what to do with it. I kind of wanted a matching subwoofer amplifier in case I get the need for more bass.

I am still in the building stages of the car, just need to pull the front seats out and run the wires back. If you are on DIYMA you can see a sort-of up to date build log.

i damn well should be in diyma...but i think i would get fired from work if i spent more time on another forum. i might wander over there and look for it though

im pretty certain there is a onyx 200.4 cover for sale in the buy/sell section right now.

i'm a e36 freak...so just let me know if you ever need any help. my project is a 97 328is..coming along slowly but surely...

*edit* nope, just checked, covers are for a 100.2 and 600.1

Yep - love my E36, but my Mini is getting all the attention - it is a helk of a lot of fun! Catching up in HP too!!

If I can't pick up those Onyx ones, I will be having them powder coated something funky and just make vinyl graphics.

Maybe I can pick your brain on line drivers and the Xenon line while you are on here too.

It seems that the gains aren't linear on the Xenon line and the upper end of the POT is where they start to come alive. Is a line driver recommended with these amps?

Thanks,
Adam

not sure about how linear the gains are or not, but the respond VERY well to a higher voltage. i'm running about 10 volts to my 200.2 and 600.1

i strongly recommend at last 8volts, they can handle up to 13

I just might pick up a line driver. I just hate having to deal with more wires and blocks.

The TLD66 you use (stalking you via search) - you tune it via a screwdriver and multi-meter playing a sine wave with 3/4 volume on head-unit??

damn..all my pics are broken!

vw337 on the forum happened to have a o-scope, but essentially, yes!

60hz tone at 3/4 volume. the cover pops off and reviles the adjustable pots.

pics of it tucked away behind the e36 glove box (relocated the factory ecu to a slot below the current tld66)

Does anyone have the Telephone Number for parts? It just rings and rings when I go through the automated system for car audio parts. Or maybe a good number to leave a voice message.

When you call the 1-800 number, search by name. If you enter "Matt" it will send you to his voice mail. So, Matt is the new parts person that replaced Phil. Just so you know, I have left him a voice mail and have not heard back as of 4 days.

Thanks for the tip. I will try for Matt or see if the operator has someone for parts.

Matt is there, just busy on the phone. I left him a VM. If I don't hear back in a hour I will re-try his extension.

Hrmm...so you're the one who won that auction...

I was watching it, went for more than I wanted to pay...

Was afraid of whether or not the rubber corner pieces would be available...

HAHA, yes I got it at 215 + Ship. It came out to $0.21 per watt, which IMO is very good!

Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!

AHHH!! don't tell me that, buzz killer

It is ok, I didn't know about the F&F sale until yesterday. I will live another day. The 1200 was freshly repaired and I am taking care of cosmetics - so it will be nice and minty again.
