Red led's in my ZPA 0.5

Post by PGfan »

I think there is a problem with my ZPA 0.5.. Four days ago I saw, that only 2 of the 4 red led's is lighting up. I'am driving a 10" Fosgate sub (T110D4) in 2 ohm.
Sometimes the 2 red led's dissapear and the sub goes "dead" one second or two-sometimes more, and then start again. I haven't heard a ZPA amp before, but I don't think it gives me very much of its potential power... I have a extra batteri and a 5 F condensator for the amp and a 8 volt line driver from PG. Some months ago I have change ALL the capasitors in the amp-also the small ones. I've got it fixed with help from one of my friends, who is working with this thing every day.
I am pretty sure that something is wrong :( Can you guys help me out

By the way.I have read, that my ZPA 0.5 can be mod, so it can give a higher output in 2 ohm. If I remember right it was something about bypass 2 resistors..Where are this 2 resistors placed?

Don't make any modifications to your amp until you fix the dead channel. No bias LEDs = no output from that channel. You have some troubleshooting to do. An unmodified 0.5 can thrash that 600w RMS sub. You will probably kill it in short order with it working and modified.
