Help! Wiring up to RSD 1200.1's to a quad 2 ohm sub
I really need some help. I would like to run (2) 1200.1's to a Quad 2 ohm subwoofer and cant seem to find a solution other than to run the 1200.1's at 1 ohm and I dont wanna do that to avoid damge to the sub and amps.
To make it easier workign with wiring a quad ohm sub I usually pretentd that it is (2) 2 ohm dual voice coil subwoofers. positive 1,2 and negatyive 1,2 is one side and pos and negative 3,4 is the other side.
So is there anyway to wire up a single DVC 2 ohm sub to a 2 ohm load?
Can anyone help me?

Re: Help! Wiring up to RSD 1200.1's to a quad 2 ohm sub
not a way that is going to yield you any more usable power. the best configuration with that equipment would be to run each amp at 4 ohm mono. i imagine that would put you in the 1500-1600 watt rms range.KHPower wrote: So is there anyway to wire up a single DVC 2 ohm sub to a 2 ohm load?
If you need more bass output than that I would recommend you swap the amps out for something like a xenon 1200.1 or add a second sub (if you've got the available space!!!) to load each amp to a single sub at 2 ohms.

Well ya see , I have a plan for the future for these 1200.1's on a AWT 15 that can take 3000 watts and has only 2 ohm udal voice coils but for now I am working witht the 1 Immortal.
I already had 1600 rms running on it before and I was hoping for more taht is why I was thinking I could figure outy a way to run thwe 1200.1s in some way other than 4 ohms , I wanna take advantage of the juice
Will I hurt the 1200.1's if i run at 1 ohm and just turn the gains real low on the sld-44 , if so what voltage shopld I set the 1200.1's at if I want to achive around 1100 watts each?
Thanks Guys

Thanks for the info and yeah I dont really wanna damge the gorgeous RSD's in the process but I have over loaded PG amps in the past with no problems , I was just carefull.fuzzysnuggleduck wrote:If you're going to run them at 1 ohm and are shooting for 1100W watts each, you'll want to read 33.166V at the speaker terminals... but I don't know if that's safe or not. Better someone else answer that.
Just FYI before I decided to use the RSds for the Immortal I used a 2 channel Audiobahn that had 800 watts rms a channel and was stable down to 1 ohm(actualy .5 for this modle) and what I did was run a pair of coils off of each channel to achieve a total of 1600 rms and it was quite loud but I could sure use as little more power now that I have added more features to my box

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!
Just buy 2 more amps.........

Thats ab alternative but I know there is a way to do this , somehowFuzzyHoNutz wrote:PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!

There is no information anywhere that I can find regarding using two amps ion a quad coil sub. I have found ways to wire this single sub in 2 ohm,4ohm and 8ohm configs . I also read that there are endless wiring configuration for a quad coil sub I just need someone who knows all about em to chime in.
I know there is a way and I just got back from trying a few more things but I still cannot get 1 side at 2 ohms
Thanks and fuzzy ,I may do your idea when I am finished and want to do a 5 second burp at the comps

I agree with Jed... run it at 4 ohms. If it's anything like my Ti1200.1, you will get very close to 1000 watts per amp at that level. If that's not loud enough for you, change the damn Audiobling sub for a good dual 2 or quad 1 ohm.
I guess you can try running them at 1 ohm. Like any other PG amp, they should take it alright. But it will draw a shit-ton of current, much of which will be turned into heat since it is less efficient at that impedance. Make sure your charging system is up to the task.

Ha ,ha Audiobling.Cmon now you know I love this sub

I really just want to use my PG amps , but I at least want a little of a upgrade in power. At least 1800 watts rms would do but 2000 rms would be better.
Now at 4 ohms if I can get 900 rms outta each 1200.1 that would be great but if I only get 700-750 this would be a downgrade. My charging system is pretty good Id say but I guess I can try both the 4 0hm and 1 ohm configs and see what works best.
I am going to post a pdf pic of the wiring config for further review

I've never ran multi amps to single woofers, but don't ya have to scope the amps to assure the coils are getting the same power???? I've seen 2 18" SoloX with 4 1500.1's strapped to each.......
Churchman knows that car..... He was telling me how much of a pita it was to get all 8 amps at the same output.

I was also told I would need a scope but I read that basicly as long as they are reading witihn 0.01 ac volts on the terminal of the amp that it should be good. I have no scope so .....FuzzyHoNutz wrote:I've never ran multi amps to single woofers, but don't ya have to scope the amps to assure the coils are getting the same power???? I finally decided to try both rsd's at a 4 ohm load and now I need to figure out what would be best.
Should I run a separate rca from my SLD44 to the other rsd amp and gain match with that? or should I just run a short rca from the first 1200.1 rca out to the other and then gain match
And what would be my ideal voltage at 4 ohms per amp?

if u use the aux out, its not gonna give you the low hertz u want; remember my install pics, when i used both 1200.1 rsds? I tried that , but it plays full range, u can even call pg to confirm this on the rsd 1200.1, why not keep ur single rca out from ur line driver, then get 2 y adapters, female to 2male, thats what i HAD TO DO- hope it works for you, the shelf in our walkin closet looks mighty lonely without that xtra rsd 1200.1 there, im kidding, u know that, but if u do go 1 ohm, let me know, I haven't heard of any1 damaging an rsd yet, but im sure if some1 tries hard enuff it caN/WILL happen, -later Christian

I don't disagree with you, however, it will not put out, or carryover the low frequency to the 2nd rsd 1200.1; when I tried this, phil was still @pg, and he concurred that it would be full range, not cary over the low frquency, tRUST- I wish it would of, instead of having to get y adapters, thats probably the only negative experience ive had with the mono-1200.1 rsd, u can't bypass the internal xover,

My eclipse HU is sending the non-fading signal to the sld-44 and then to the 1200.1 and if I set the 2nd 1200.1 to the same x over frequency range of the first(wihtout bass boost) I should be fine right? If not I do have spare rca's laying around for another run from the 2nd output of the sld44 and y adapters if needed

Thanks for the offer but I think I have plenty if I need them. I just want some more suggestions on what everyone would do for the signal pass in my case. Because using the SLD-44's 2nd output might be more accurate in adjusting the amp voltage.thedeal7235 wrote:Hmm, i have plenty of extra y adapters, nice good ones made by...., can't remember the name, but if u need 2 let me know-Christian
Does the PG RSd1200.1 put out the same voltage I put in it via the rca signal? So if I feed the first rsd 1200.1 8.0 volts will it send 8.0 volt ou tto the othjer 1200.1 via the output?
Regarding the output being fullrange , will the signal going into the second amp from the first 1200.1 be the original signal that is going into the first 1200.1 from my basscube?
?
Sorry if this sounds so confusing , its just one big mistake could end up in a big paperweight for my sub
Thanks everyone
