AX204A straight through for LPL only?

Post by STROKD »

So Matt has one of these for sale, and I dont need it at all, but I was wondering if I can run a crossed signal into it out of my Dolby Processor (Alpine), and run a looped out back to the amp... If I pulled the low pass chip out of it, it'd be a full range signal (which is already crossed) right? Or would this sound terrible?

The ONLY reason I'd want to do this is to be able to have a LPL... if this would work with no sound degradation, it'd be worth wiring up I think.

What does everyone else think? Again, crossed signal in, no crossover chip, crossed signal out right? Would the LPL even work if it's not doing anything but in/out with the signal path? :?:

If you pull the low pass RNET out, I'm pretty sure that you're breaking the audio circuit and nothing will come out the low pass outputs on the AX.

I seem to remember having a "bad" RNET that wouldn't seat properly in my AX at one point that would simply cut right out.

Don't quote me on that, but if I recall what happened to me correct, that would seem to be the case.

Why don't you just get a RNET for a much higher frequency than you're using on your Dolby Processor? That way, you will still get the frequencies you wanted to your processor and then have use of the LPL.

Not trying to thread jack but could you just swaop the highpass RNET and plug it into the lowpass out RNET spot? or would a guy just have to run the sub off of the highpass RNET circuit?

LPL only works on lowpass, but switching the chips will work :)

I've had the rnet out before and my 406s worked great... full pass signal.

I want to put this AFTER the Dolby processor because I am running a AINet cable to the trunk, and then running off the sub outputs from the processor so the 5.1 will work and be phased properly... I wanted to take the output into the 204, and take the 204 back into the amp. If I put the 125 ship from the high pass in the low pass, will this cause any signal cutting since it will only be getting a 70-75 hz input signal? If its low pass at 125 and only has 70-75 or so to cross, I assume it'd not be doing anything to the signal? :D If it won't make the bass sound crappy, Im all for it.
