Which way to face sub?

Post by blake »

Here is the drivers side of my trunk where i'll be doing my fiberglass sub enclosure. This space gives me the right depth and air space for a RSdc104.My question is how should i face the sub?Should i have it facing straight across the trunk, angled toward the front right of the trunk or aimed toward the front center of the trunk? All of your suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Are you going for stealth? face it down in that location.

Visibility/function, get a temp enclosure with any sub and try different angles to see what gets you the best output/least rattles.
I think we've established that "Ka Ka" and "Tukki Tukki" don't work.

I'm using an RSDC12 facing straight across and like the way it sounds.

Why would you need a Boston sub for that? You can do it with any :)

as you can see from the responses its kind of a crap shoot. the response will be different in different cars. the best bet is vw337's idea of just borrowing or building a simple box and temporarily try different angles and see how it effects the sound. then when you have reached your own conclusion, build the final fiberglass box to mimic your conclusion

B"The voice of reason"fowler  I agree with "Mr.Reason" :) That way, like he said youll be able to place it any which way to get the sound you want, and then go ahead and build your enclosure.

Thanks for the ideas..I will do the position test.Gotta second skin the doors and trunk as the first step before any equipment goes in.
