NEW HCCAs for 2009
cheater amps were a result of power classes in competitions in the 80's-90's. Most don't use them anymore and so few people compete that it' a non-issue, I highly doubt you will ever see them like that again.thedeal7235 wrote:What truly would be interesting, is if these new hccas could go down to the 1/4 ohm load, or even 1/8ohm load?, as the originals-i had a hcca4225, and let me tell you that when i say it go soooo hot u could fry an egg onit, that is no exaggerration
very true
being in the lowest power class 0-300 doing well over 1000 watts is over

Below are the types of IASCA competition Formats.
MACS (Mobile Audio Car Show) is a competition format designed for those who want to show off their vehicles and don’t want to get too detailed in the judging of it. Audio and Video are judged in a "car show" style judging format...
IASCA Sound Quality Format (SQ)
This competition format focuses on Sound AND Installation quality. How good the system sounds is one thing, but what it looks like contributes to the total score. Just knowing these rules will help you understand the GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY.
IASCA Sound Quality Challenge Format (SQC)
This is a contest of Sound Quality only. The installation quality is not scored at all. (Now that doesn't mean you should go around with a wack install either).
IASCA IdBL Format (IASCA dB League)
This is a test of "SPL" or Sound Pressure Level. Just how LOUD is LOUD? How much Sound Pressure can your system generate inside of the vehicle with windows shut and doors closed.
IASCA Everblast Bass Boxing Format (EBB)
Bass Boxing is the most fun of the SPL contests... 2 or 3 rounds of competition against a would be contender; first with our test track, then choose your favorite track that makes your ride sing and give your goose bumps.
IASCA Tuner Jam Format
Imagine...a car show format that actually has a scoresheet you get at the end of the competition so you know what areas you stand tall in.
IASCA NiteGlow Format
Light up the night with this auxilliary vehicle lighting contest. we judge the light show... use Neon, Strobe lights, L.E.D.'s, actually anything goes here. Dress up your interior and/or exterior.

thats seems like itd be alot more FUn, i luv sq, but sometimes, I remember it was too serious, i mean what is that guys name, oh yeah Richard Clark, right?, i think , even back in the 90s he spent like 50k for his ride, which if u got it go for it, but that was in the late 80s or early nineties?, i saw /heard of where he built a massive sub?
as she walked out the door she expressed, 'enjoy your amp addiction'

and it was the very 1st car to ever have a perfect score on the rta
tonal accuracy was dead on the money

The one thing that bugs me about the "modern" PG gear is the styling. Everything since the zx/ti series has kind of a "ricer" look to it. I don't mean that in an insulting way. Some of it, like the RSd line, I think actually looks pretty good. It's just that I am really partial to the classic lines of an MS. Plus, you could always mount them upside down with a plexi bottom if you wanted a bling factor. That style is really tough to find these days. I have my 2125TA sitting on my chef's island awaiting installation, and I find myself stroking the heatsink multiple times per day. Yeah, I know "stroking the heatsink" is setting myself up for a masturbation joke, but it's true. "Not in the fins!"

I don't know about the new pg stuff but that there 5k animal would do some violent stuff to some pretty hefty drivers....so what will it really take, do you guys think to secure one and has anyone here run the new orion amps or subs. had an hed 15 and it sucked...badly
I bought 13 of the ta ms1ks and sold them all over and played with a few...they were not all that folks. Sorry, but they are hogs and didn't really put out the stunning power of the os line. I haven't bought or used any ryval stuff...though about it at the ff sale but it was not a strong complulsion to resist when there were so many other goodies.

I was more into small hifonic and soundstream amps back in the day...bustin suds in college didn't leave much for the system back then. Ahhh those were the days...so what is the hcca2250 putting out? Arnt they stable bridged down to one ohm and .5 ohm stereo
