it is a 2.0 (not turbo charged!) impreza plus from 2002 (the bugeye). in belgium it is not affordable for a youngster to buy a turbocharged model
the mounting depth is indeed nothing, but you can easily make a ring from 18mm wood, put it on the chassis and put the doorpanel back into his original place. this gives you a bit more space to put some speakers.
well, if you ever feel like getting rid of your headlights, look me up

Also, if you end up wanting to modify this car, I'd reccomend looking at the Accessport from Cobb. Its a fairly spendy piece (~600) but its worth every penny, imo.
cool to have another suby guy on this forum..!
Just a few weeks before I got mine, a friend of mine picked up a clearance brand new 08 STI...he is planning on getting the accessport by Cobb...and I am planning on using it : )...if he lets me. The stage 1 upgrade requires no additional car mods but still adds some power and torque. I don't want to mod this one, at least not for a few years so I hope he definitely ends up picking the port up.

Good info buddy! So there may be room in there to install a ring and still fit the door panel back on properly?
My first order of business will be this headunit install I am all psyched about but speakers will follow shortly after though all of this may have to wait until it stops snowing , I hate snow.
What I miss the most about my Pioneer 7800DVD is the Ipod interface I installed. I can't stand not being able to navigate through the ipod by the screen now that I had a taste of it in the car I traded in.
I am still a ways off but hopefully by the end of summer I can get some serious upgraded tunage going.
For now I installed a temporary headunit upgrade since I needed to do something : ). I love this unit, it is pretty great for sound manipulation but I can't wait to upgrade back to a dvd unit and amped speakers.
I am trying to sell all of my existing stuff I will not be using so I can pick up the Alpine IVA-D106, PXA-H100 IMPRINT sound processor. Wayyyy smaller processor than my massive brained Pioneer 7800 which I love but was dreading running in the new car so instead I am selling it on ebay with a 6 disc changer and Ipod adapter.
If anyone is interested, I am looking for 650.
If I sell the Pioneer, I am also going to try selling the Clarion below with a 2 channel Clarion amp and some 4" infinity reference coaxes and an add on reference tweeter pair for about 300. That Alpine is really calling my name so I am clearing out old headunits and accesories so I don't break the bank upgrading.
Anyway...To install a normal headunit in the subie, I had to buy the JSPEC dash bezel, scosche wiring harness, scosche double din to single din adapter, and I already had the headunit in my closet. It came out pretty sweet and sounds a lot better on the stock Premium speakers than the oem headunit did.
I have since picked up kartboy polyurethane 1/2" speaker spacers for the front so the doors will accomodate my RSD 6.5cs when I get there. I hope to fit my RSD coaxes in the back doors, and I have an RSD500.4 and RSD12 to install once I get my headunit stuff straightened out. Then of course I will need some Dynamat. I am picking everything up little by little so I don't break myself.
This is what I got so far, it isn't much but I wanted to share. I have also installed a kartboy short shifter with a Cobb Knob.
Glad to be back in the game a little.
