Comparing Exile XPe slims to RSd

Post by gfunk_nz »

I have read the CA&E review on the RSd comps, then just read a brief review on here of the XPE slim comps.
Can anyone give me an idea of the difference between the two, which you would choose and why and if there are any quirks with one and not the other etc.

RSd components have a little bit of a dip around 300Hz where they don't keep up quite as well as the rest of the range but otherwise I like them a lot. If you have a good EQ you can "solve" that issue. They are all about the great midbass but they also have a decent tweeter that is easy to listen to. Some tweeters are too quiet or too harsh, these are smooth and don't get painful at volume.

I have no experience at all with the Exile stuff so I can't compare.

I think your comparing the wrong models. I went with the Exile XP slims because of space issues (so I thought). If you want to compare an Exile line to the PG RSD's you should be looking at the Xtec's.

The Exile XPe Slim line might be more comparable price point wise to the PG RSD's. The Exile Xtec's cost in excess of $200.

I owned the xtecs in my last car, and I loved them.. Great set. Im debating going that way again, now that I will be running exile again.

I just sold my old set. I loved them as well. If PG doesn't at least acknowledge the RSDC components then back to Exile for me.

I've kinda been sitting on the sideline waiting for the RSDC's as well. I wonder if we will ever see them.

I know there is quite a price difference, but it comes down to what I can fit. I can most likely fir the exile 6.5" slims in where as the RSd's would be a 5.25" as a standard 6.5" set is not going to happen. The importer only has the RSd's in 5.25" everything else is 6.5"

Indeed.. I better know something on them soon, or Im getting rid of the rsds, and getting the xtecs again. Ide like to hear them in my car now, as I only heard them in my old car, which had sucky doors.

Do you have access to an RTA? Would be interesting to see how the sets compared gain matched. I suspect the Exiles are quite good. Doesn't mean I don't have love for my RSd comps though :D

Actually, our Shift series is more comparable to the RSD. The XPe motor structure and tweeter quite a bit more advanced than the RSD, but that is why the XPe costs more.

Both RSD and XPe65 are good speakers for the money.

Xpe65 are $300 retail. XTec65 are $400 retail. Not cheap, but good stuff usually isn't.
