Anyway will two pairs of these up front cause any of this "cancellation"? I just want it clear and unmuddles, but... loud.
Actually, cancellations can and do happen with just one set of speakers. Reflections can cause secondary sound waves that cause cancellations and peeks. Being surrounded by glass and other hard surfaces of an automobile it's pretty tough to eliminate them all.
The problem with multiple sources of the same program material is time arrival at you the listener. with the same sounds hitting you from multiple locations, and therefore different times, it's hard for us to locate a pointsource. And without being able to nail down where in the stereo field a sound comes from we can't perceive a 'stage'.
Of coarse all this is only relative if you are trying to get the most accuracy from your system. Tonal accuracy can be accomplished with multiple speaker locations. Just not imaging and staging.
Hey man I know exactly what you meen by feel the music. A friend and I had this convo not so long ago because in a car he has always enjoyed feeling surrounded by music. I see where he is coming from, I used to get that feeling when I was in a car or other listening environment and it would seem like there werent any speakers. I remember this when I was young my uncle had a Mcintosh stereo in his theatre. He must have had over 100 grand in it. There was a seperate room with two stacks of components. Really overwhelming to a kid. Anyway, he put a herbie hancock cd in and switched it to 2.1 and I was floored. Music seems to be coming out of the air but at the same time could almost convince me that there was a band right in front of me. Up until that point I ran around listening to my Ace of Base cd or whatever, loud as it would go and loving it. Hearing that stereo changed my life no question. One of these days I will have something like that. But in a car it seems like the stage seems more realistic to me if all the sound seems to be coming from in front of you. And a also must say I like it loud enough that the bass can be felt given the midbass and rest of the gang can keep up. Most of the bands that I really love have their kickdrums tuned dooowwwwn. I love feeling the kickdrum move through you. I would say check out a head unit with a time alignment feature and try to keep your components as close as possible. Like maybe a woofer in the kick with the tweeter mounted on the grill in axis with the woofer, and the other woofer as low and forward in the door as you can get it. Then if you have time alignment like my old pioneer did, put the mic where your right ear is and run the test. I suppose you could probably try the other set of tweetersup in the a pillars, or wherever you would like and see what it sounds like. I think it would work out ok. Hell for all I know it could turn out great. Im not real sure what is out there as far as time alignment, mine was a three way set up so.. You will have to set yours up like a 4.1 I would suppose.
I had a camaro (several yrs. ago when i was younger) and a guy designed my system with 51/4 and tweets up front, he left the stock 6by9 and kept them set at the most minimal settings, they blended good, and i even placed 3rd in 51-100 watt competitions with that vehicle-but now i run no more rear fill in an audi for example and i like it better this way-my 2 cents-(maybe try it both ways and see how it sounds to you, and ur liking-greg has given me great advice in the past , and its helped my system sound alot better-
as she walked out the door she expressed, 'enjoy your amp addiction'

I allready have a Sony cdxgt820IP head unit. I am interested in this "time allignment" though. It is too bad I don't have this capability.
I think I am going to do the kick panels with the Rsd65cs thumpers and another set of them in the doors but locate the tweets somewhere further away from me in the door units. And nothing behind me for now. What do you think guys ???? how much capacitor do I need??????
