I just picked up a PHOENIX GOLD XENON X400.1 to use in my setup. It will be powering a Pioneer Premier TS-W1207D4 as shown here.

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_859 ... 207D4.html

I hooked it up, but am getting very little output from it. I have it wired like this

Is that the correct for this setup?

If connected like that you should have a 2 ohm final load which is fine for that amp. What do you have the gain/sensitivity set at? What is your crossover point?

subsonic at 16.9 lowpass us at 100. I've tried raising the bass a bit, but it doesn't seem to effect much. Raised it to 6/18 and sensitivity upto about 8 clicks.

I rechecked the wiring, and it all seems ok. Hope it's not the subwoofer.

how little of output are we talking? Next to none or just not kick ya in the chest. Also is the signal going into the amp a full signal or already crossed over? Are you sure the DVC's are wired properly. I know that sounds like a bonehead mistake but I have seen it happen. Also, what kind of headunit do you have and what kind of rca voltage are you working with. I have a xs2300 running on a sapphire 12 in my work car right now and it doesnt impress other people in traffic or anything, actually its pretty much inaudible outside the car but it does all I need it to for sq. Granted it is alittle more efficient than your woofer and I have a linedriver on mine but I am still only pushing about 2 volts passed the eq215x. Are your box built to specs?

hmmm the only thing I can think is your crossover on your 4 channel might be selected to highpass the aux output. If not then I am stumped.

hmm looking at the 4 channel amp, it has front and rear x-over controls. I thought those controls just control my speakers and have nothing to do with the aux output on the amp.

Should I be adjusting the rear x-overs then?

click on the link I gave you for the 4 channel, then click on the pic and look at the second picture. That is the controls I have.

lol damn I didnt see that picture the first time :bong: I wasnt sure. The only amp I have ever owned with that feature is the xs2300. Pretty handy sometimes. Anyway, not your issue. What kinda box is the sub in?

It's in a sealed enclosure.

When I mean it isn't loud, I mean that if I touch the sub when music is on, I can feel it move, but very little. The bass from the rear speakers are far louder.

Outside of seeing pics of your install with setting and wiring and things I am not sure I can help. I suck Im sorry. You really should be able to get ample bass with that setup. I havent heard the sub you have but a 12 will make sound with 400 plus watts. AND THAT SIR IS A SCIENTIFIC FACT  Im very sorry I cant be some help. Hopefully you get this staightened out. As for me it is 1:30am here and I have been up since 6:30 If I stay on here much longer I will start to rant even more. Imagine me right now typingm then rambling on and catching myself not making sense or staying on the task at hand. Then backspacing and trying again. Its terrible.

You are sure that the positive and negative terminals on your sub are correct. This is mind blowing.

Yes I am. I opened the enclosure to see if maybe the coils were burnt, but they weren't.

I had this setup for a while, I was just using a different amp with it. That amp blew, I think it was clipping without me knowing it. Anyway, everything worked fine before adding this new amp.

I dont think your headunit has a crossover but if it does turn it off. I will think about this while my eyes rest tonight. We will get to the bottom of this. Do you have any other speaker laying around that can take a low frequency signal. Like a house speaker or something. Be careful not to blow anything but and speaker that can sort of reproduce some lows will tell us where to concentrate our thoughts.

I have some spare cheap radio shack speakers, so that wouldnt be a problem. Should I just connect it straight to the amp, and slowly increase the gain?

I'll give it a try in the morning tomorrow. Thanks for all the help.

I had this amp.

If nothing has changed but the amp I dont see how it could be anything but an amp issue but I am defenitly down with picking back up here tommorow

hmmm so I assume you took your old amp out and put your xenon in. That xenon should be noticably louder if the 400.1's are anything like the 600.1's. The 600.1's were overbuilt something silly. I have heard that most actually do closer to 800 rms. I know that your 400.1 will put out a min of 400 which wouldnt neccesarily be alot louder but it would sound alittle better and be just as loud. Was anything else changed? have you tyred taking the rca's from your jbl 4 channel and putting them straight to the xenon.

little update. It seems to be working ok now that I turned the sensitivity upto 3/4th of the way, and bass about 1/3. I can hear it now, though it isn't shake window loud. That is fine though. I'm kind of scared to run it that high though. Is that normal settings? I just thought those controls were really touchy, and didn't really want to crank them up to much. Don't want to break anything again.

Add a line driver. It will definitely lower your gain setting, and should be noticeably louder.

something like this?

http://www.amazon.com/2X-LINE-DRIVE-W-B ... 325&sr=8-1

do I just connect it between the two amps?

Also, is it pretty easy to notice when it is clipping? Like what am I looking for? I just want to raise it more and see if it is a voltage issue.

edit:actually the specs for my headunit say it outputs at 2 volts. I thought that is pretty standard? Do I really need it raised to 5?

The Xenons can take up to 10 volts. So yes, it's highly recommended adding one. My HU had a 5 volt out and I added one as well. I had 0 gain on the amp and it was more than loud enough. Add it as close to the HU as possible.

I would look at buying a PG line driver. Here are a few on ebay now.

How many RCA's do you have running to your amps now? How are they configured?
