old old school gs redline 15s
old old school gs redline 15s
well anyone here remember the o/s redline subs from the late 90s, prior to incorperation with zed? I just got two of the original run of 8ohm 15s nib and there is no manual or real info found by me on the web...looking for power and airspace spec's....anyone know if the gs preditor series amps are zed boards? I am not too sure off the manufacture date on the amps...need to know prior to purchase. will post pics. one needs a recone due to ups...but it can be done. The first real system that I heard was a z car w/2 of the original 18 redlines and i'll never forget it...so i bought these for a home project...any info or link are appriciated...thanks
oops
Meant the late 80's. So zed built the boards for all of there amps and were coowned with autotek under api. When they were bought out by maxsonics they scrapped the gs line...apparently. Apparently, the boards on the gs say autotek on them...interesting. I am going to post some pics of the subs today...I beleive they are from 87-89...then they started using something other then foam and paper...interesting history. I found a guy with 12 nib gs amps....mp series all various sizes. Can't go wrong with the os zed boards from my experience

I am currently running it in my shop on a xenon 200.2 bridged in 3.63cuft tuned to 40hz and it does quite well. Speakers back in the day produced a different sound then the subs today...do you know what I mean...just diferent...in impact and in control but the sound is great....havn't heard anything like it in awhile....

you know, I think it was the power to airspace ratio too. Could just be that the motor design of newer spl oriented drivers produces a vastly and somewhat unique sound compared to the old...I've been running big 12s for the last few years and have grown tired of them....just got two os stroker 15s that are n great shape and installing new beefy cones and coils on both and am going to go the os route...
I miss big speakers....have run os kick solo 18s...the rounds and I miss that low low impact that 12s just won't repicate no matter what they are....I havn't build a box for 12s tuned below 40hz be it solo x's or mtx9500's...just built a 7th order dual ported box for a 12btl tuned to 32hz and it is loud but it still isn't running that hard that low...all the amplitude is above 40 to 50 hz....and then the box starts a ringin. Not overly impressive.
Ive read that poeple back in the day were throwing the cv strokers in boxes as big as 14ft cu...and they hit hard and low as you can port the box it seems. I am looking at about 5.5 for each net....on either 1500rms each or two k each depending on what amps I run and the configuration of the subs themselves....can't wait to hear em roaring away...old school style!!!!

Crikey those things are gonna knock you into next week!!!
I miss my friends slammed 1985 Nissan ST (sport truck) extra cab with a pair of poly cone 15in Pyle Drivers and a 300watt amp (probobly way overrated). I think the amp was a UNIC? Anyway in a sealed 6 cubic ft box they could bounce quarters off the roof and onto the ground. It was pretty hot stuff in 1991. SQ probobly wasnt that great but i loved how the lowend was so effortless. Another friend had a pair of the same Pyle Driver 15s with a Punch 150HD in an 86 Bronco 2 with the same results.
P-town huh? Im in Eugene. Enjoying the rain?

hey I remember the old pyles....yeah this rain sucks for sure...lived here most of my life and i still hate the weather. My shop has no heat and since I got laid off in nov I've been working out of the house freezing...to much saw dust and shit to run a space heater...
yeah...I've got a couple installs going right now and by the end of the month I should be able to take a few weeks and get my system up and going again...stripped the car last week to start anew and i am getting anxious to get it back together..
eugene he....been through but never long to stay...you like it down there?
