Hello guys...I am interested in purchasing 8 rdsc 12s dual four ohm subs and they are going for 300 to 340 shipped per 2 off of ebay...that is a nice chunk for eight of em...at that cost I am looking at running regular rsd 12's or going with the rsdc 10's eight for 800 shipped..
my goal is spl...have been running two solo x's and they are just too hoggish powerwise. electrical system is bosch 280amp alt and two kinetic 2200's. I have an a4kdn and a pca2000d...intend to either strap two pca's or run the a4kdn...at one ohm though the audiobahn is taking everything that the electrical will take and then enough to be dangerous with equipment...the two pca's are more effeicent straped at two for the same power with a bit less of a tax...now stacking the relatively conservative subs up in multitudes should give me the spl without having to really push the system too the point where stuff goes...again
so what do you guys think...any action at pg...I live 3 miles from em but don't know anyone over there anymore and am loath to go knock on the door....and who thinks that 160db is possible with the 8 rsdc's sealed .85 with 4k backing it....or as close to it as electrical will take....two rfl's on a4kdn in 5.5cuft each bandpass came just short at 158 which it only saw a few times....so i am skeptical and this is a sell stuff to do it type project so budget is a factor....but I see it...this will be the summer that I break 160.....

these couldn't break 160 in the car...sealed trunk and 280 amps at idle.......can 8 rsdc 12 do it

8 rsdcs sealed with 4k doing a 160. Not happening at all.. You may have a shot running 8 of them ported in a wall setup though... Still even then, ide bet that would be closer to the mid 150s.. Now 8 rsdc's sealed would be a mean daily system, but Its not going to get you to that 160 mark without a massive wall, with much more than 4k to boot..
If I were you, ide look into another sub more spl based, and grab a few 15s or 18s... I am working on a pretty nice setup myself
Hey, ran to rfls bandpass and they were ported thru the backseat and ran 39hz 158db in compitition. 39hz sine wave. accousticly the subs were ass...paul wall and alot of bass mekanics...old dj majic mike and such cause that is all they could carry. they were grossly underpowered...freind ran 2 here in town and ran 168.9 on eight mtx thunder elites that had been tweaked...but he had two 260 amp alt's and 4 huge batteries...works at a shop here in p town and got alot on rep cudoo's
I've got around 14cuft of space and that leaves amps in car and batteries under box in tire well....not ideal...try not to go to far above 10 on most enclosures that I've built for the car. eight ported subs takes alot of space and that many could leave the subs choking out....could port through the rear deck....be pretty slick but the box would have to be sectional. ..could pull it off easily enough and then wall the back of the box off. can't really go through the seat now as I've installed leather since the rfls...well I really couldn't leave the hole in the seat...it was huge.
I've been running solos the last year in both 3.63 ported each and in 1.5 sealed but they were on the a4kdn at two ohms so 1500 each....never got em above 145...that was ported...sealed they would run 130ish accustic energy
the box in my astiric houses solos 1.5 seal each....pg amps are under it and the soundstream amp has just been thrown in since amp issue....getting repaired and it does okay but it is time to get the install done. Been working on everones but mine so once i get done with wakeups box and racks it is time for everyone to come help me with mine!!!
I still think you should look at different subs. 160s sealed with those subs, and that power, is not happening.. Also, you never mentioned what kind of mic was used for those 160 scores you were talking about, and where the mic was placed...
Hmmm... the RSDs are low-playing SQ subs. If you were doing dB-drag or something where bottom end would matter (rather than making a one note wonder car), then it might work out. For pure high score SPL though, I would look elsewhere.
For another good option, check out SoundSolutionsAudio's Icon. Sound good but take lots more power.
Hey...I don't know what kind of meter they used...it was at pir at a comp two summers ago...mic in round cage in passenger kick panel...now i've got an epic 160 and I've been told it was fairly accurate....upper center console above the head unit. be better in kick ive heard...but then it is worthless as far as tuning parametric value with different music...I've done two compititions and they have the big thing on laptop...cord through window...
I really want to stick with the pg theme and cant swing a bunch of ti elites...which would be ideal so I don't know what to do...mabey 10 ported on a4kdn...bye trunk....if I could find 8 of the old ti 15s i could probably come close...don't know what to do as far as pg bass amps....power dictates mono effeciency and other then 4 ti 1200s I just can't get the power with their amps. I have an ms1k and could get another but they are power hogs...it is a ta but still alot of consumption...not ideal and two...forget it. So the plan now is to maintain pg theme in car and speakers throughout and there will just be room enough to hide the audiobahn under the xenons in the trunk. Just bought another 100.4 I've got 200.4 to run front stage xenon 3 ways via mb q two way passives and the q add a woofer....800 watts....then 6inch xenon mids in rear deck via mb musicomp passives for fill and the last two channels on the 100.4 bridged mono to a 6in xenon center....deq on front stage only and then use the second deq to run the center and rears run mono series...time delay will be just a little off on rear fill but I've no intention of sq comp...just want a daily pounder that sounds quite nice at stupid amplitude...the 160 is really just a personal goal for this car given what it is but conformitty and theme has value as well....if it was all just about db I could buy 10 15in cvr's and run em on the a4kdn and Im pretty sure that It would do 160 in the right boxes and share airspace motor to cone in 12 ft seald for all....but I've been wheeling and dealing and getting everyone elses cars wrapped up for two year in the mean time selling off a ton of gear not finding the set up that was the keeper...time to do this now so I've pulled everything out of the car now and am pricing and reseaching thoroughly making plans....and selling off so goodies to make it happen.
just saw the dd post...yeah...I've just help wakeup get his going and am starting his rack and box this week....it does quite well...can't wait to hear it in the right box...in sub zero box made for something like a cvr...heard to dd15s last year and it was quite impressive....but theme....I keep hoping that pg will release another limited amp but a giant d class to rival the current market products
Lets not forget audioque either. The hdc alums are essentially the same as the dd 9500s. Biggest difference is the dd offers better cooling. So if You want dd for half the price...
They even make the aq recones in dds facility Dj, the ower of audioque is the father of jassa, the owner of dd. They are sister companies... DD does offer better cones if you go the composite cone route, but they are very expensive if you get one. Both great companies, but you just dont pay for the dealer markup with aq, with it being order online only.
yes, I know...and there are two hpo dual 15s nob for 299bucks right now on ebay...problem there...three is airspace in trunk...optimally the 15s are all 5ft per driver and I can't pull off 15 to get the most out of em...tuned to 32hz
and they'll run quite well on thirteen hundred watts each...though they'll take alot more...the fi twelve that I've got is super bad and could order two new just like it for bout 440 with all the options and run three on the big audiobahn at one ohm...but everything I've read and seen says that they are hogs and really run on 3 to 4k each...so 1300 seems to fall way short of the mark...some subs will run well underpowered but all of the big subs I've run they do gs with under 2k each and the solos on 4k in 6.6 ft box was just about right for the sub....have learned that 8k in car isn't feasable as it sits...anyone know someone who can repair audiobahn amps...or even upgrade it from top to bottem? have heard that tweated soundstream xxx6600 old version will will run close to 5k and it is the same board...but the fets are not designed to cool as effectively...extra on board fans will be added this time around...right onto the grills on the face.
man...this bites...it seems like it is ti12elite or bust with pg subs...how would 4 run on 4k

The elites are great no doubt, but once again, there are subs available that will get much louder off that power...
ok...so where can I look into getting the aq eighteens and costwise what could a grand do...how much are recones...the fi have to be sent in to be reconed and shipping a 70ob speaker is a b%$%$...this looks like it is a do it ur self job...
