Actually now that I have a Cariboos in my hand the green is almost a perfect match to the color of my beer can, all hes missing is the gold lettering!

And Ryan, no I dont like the backyard spray bomb paint job, it doesnt even match the color his poor mans Porsche! I guess Im not into green

One on hand we have great respect for custom finishes like Dr. Jekyll's work but on the other hand we don't seem so hot on the whole spray bomb idea, it seems. I wonder what's up with that?

One is worthy of the equipment, while the other one slaps it in the face.

I am just confused why he chose the color he did? Is that the outside of the car or was that the only can he had enoug paint in to finish all the pieces? I am all for cutsomizing an amp if it helps the install but I am not sure of thise one.

Did he flush mount the eq in the transmission tunnel?

Love the car! One of the best handling cars I have ever driven. If I had cash to burn on cars for toys, a 914 would be one of them. :D

To answer all of your question

My first 914 was that bueatiful color green. actually it was a olive green. I painted all of my equipment to match the car. It really thumped. I dissasembled every piece and hand painted each piece under my front porch. I was probably 18 years old at the time, but i am now 31 and still have all the equipment. in fact i discoverd this forum about a week ago and i LOVE it, even if i should be shot.

I promise to use a better color for my new build, and i have been thinking about taking all the metal to a local powdercoater.

p.s. i just found this thread by using the search function :hurr:

Ah well... you live and learn. No doubt that was your building block for car audio.. and you know not to go green on Phoenix Gold :P hahaha.

I wouldn't doubt the sound capabilities of this setup for a second. That setup would rock! If you've still got it all, either "Titanium" the lot, "Tantrum" the lot, or polish the lot :)

Or you could go back to PG roots and whiten the lot MS/XZ style.

And believe me, we all got shot somewhere on a forum from learning about audio (or goofing up somewhere and people found out), so don't take it too personal... it's just business ;)

That has to be one of those thought that, "if it's army green, it can't be seen " theft deterrent things?

How ever you look at it, it's ugly.

hey! do your thing. dude! i never took many picts of any of my stuff till latly. my first was a 88 ranger. i loved it! it had one 3 1/2 in the dash for a long time, but it looked good. i later on was able to afford to put some better stuff into it. if it made u feel good at the time thats all that mattered. even if it looked like shit. good luck on the next one. word of advice RUN! 1st car was a 1970 914 I will try to find a pic, but keep in mind, this was 10+ years back, and i was not aware of digital cameras back then, or i could not afford one. The equipment was thrown into the blue car befor i began any restoration at all. These pics are of my current ride with a half assed system (speakers falling apart) things not hooked up, or fastend down.

I am building somthing you guys will be proud of. Live and Learn :D
