New amp good enough for Rsd 12?

Post by lukeman269 »

Let's hope I don't start any arguments with this post like the last one did haha. I just got an Alpine mrp-m650 amp for 100 bucks. Is this a good amp for this sub?

Oh and I am going to build a sealed box for the sub as well. How big should it be? Polyfill or not?

its the rsd12d right?

that thing should beat pretty hard. i think you will be happy.

1.5-1.8 sealed is where you want to be. poly fill is your call. i only really use it on fiberglass boxes. but it definitely wont hurt anything

What is the benefit to polyfill? I have heard numerous sides of the story. I have heard it does absolutely nothing, I have heard it makes the sub sound deeper and cleaner, I have heard it makes the box seem bigger than it really is etc.

generally it is a cheap way to cheat and gain a little more space from a box that is lacking it. I have heard it slows down and somewhat splits up the rear sound waves and tricks the sub to think it is bigger. I normally load the sub up in it empty and if I think I want to try it then I try it since it is so cheap.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

Ok cool man. That makes a lot of sense.
