when you say divider, does that mean its sealed or ported?

and if sealed, what is the internal volume of the box?

hmm, that should be fine for those subs.

what are your crossovers set at?

Internet to English translation.

Hello, I have just purchased two Octane R 12 inch sub woofers. They are being powered by an Octane R 8.0.1 amplifier.
All the audio gear is in used but very good condition, I am not awfully smart about car audio in general but I do believe the Subwoofers are wired for a 2 ohm final load.

The subwoofers sound very loud and have a acceptable bass output, however they just don’t sound like other better more expensive subwoofers that I have auditioned in the past.

The question that I have is as follows, is the lack out forceful output due to the singe voice coil configuration?
Also does anyone else have the same setup and find it to be less than expected?

Thank you for your time Sir’s

Sean.

I'm back everyone, thank you mastiff for that. Seeing that it is all in good english, can anybody help me. its been stated before that the octanes are a low end range from phoenix gold, but my friends have cheaper equipment that sounds better in my opinion. im not a complete noob when it comes to car audio but i still have alot to learn.

hope my english was a tad better this time. sorry for the lack of it before.

many thanks

What car is it in? is it a sealed trunk (boot) or hatch?

What thickness wiring are you using for the amp? please dont say 8awg..

What thickness speaker wire?

Do you have any fluff in the box?

What head unit (because thats usually the cause of sloppy sound)

Any active XO or are you just running the sound into them?

Any line driver/ EQ?

Answers in the eventuality..

If you're using anything less than 4awg youre going to lose bass punch. I proved this when I thought my battery to ground cable was 4awg and it turned out to be 8awg. I replaced it with 0awg and immediately had tons more bass power, I even had to reduce all my gains on all of my amps.

Make sure your speaker wire is good and thick, for the same reason above.

Fluff in the speaker box can help give the sub more volume by slowing the internal airflow, 'fooling' the sub into thinking it's in a bigger box.

Shit head units (sony, jvc, jensen and so on) all sound mostly like shit. Remember, you get out of your subs what you put in !

You need to find out what frequency those subs are happy at and then tune them with an active XO or EQ.

A line driver will add punch to any system in scenarios where your head unit has a crappy low powered RCA. I use a 9v line driver which was part of my active parametric EQ and again it really added punch to the system.

HTH
