An annoying question...
An annoying question...
I mentioned it in an another thread in here, but to keep the threads clean - I start up a new here....
I have 2 x Cerwin Vega Stroker 18" dual coil, and my plan was at first to use the beautiful MS1000.
But it is hard to get, and my eyes keep falling towards the Hifonics XX Colossus II.... I figured 2 of such amps to my Strokers...
They are "cheap", but in my eyes - brutally raw......
What du you guys in here say??
PS! This is for SPL only - not SQ....
Here is a link to the amp on Ebay:

I would prefer the MS1000, because of it is big, bad and it is PG!
On the other hand, it is easy 11-1200 us dollars for a nice example (minimum...).
For 1300, I get 2 Class D dual monoblocks from Hifonics to blow the living hell out of my Strokers. So maybe I'll just let the MS1000 be MS1000 - and go for Hifonics, like you other guys also recommend??
I will let my other MS's do the rest of the work on the other speakers...
Thank you guys for sharing your opinion... If there are anyone else with a opinion or comment - feel free to speak out here.

Thanks guys.
I have laid Hifonics behind me - Tristan convinced me yesterday that Hifonics was not the way to go. Atleast not the newer generation.
I am always looking for the Old School amps for my audio-system, but Tristan tipped me about the Fusion 4000D. That amp looks nice for my 2 DC 18" woofers, and more powerful that the MS1000.
BUT... The Fusion is a lovely new amp, and the MS1000 is a lovely old amp. I am getting worried here...
Should I go for the rare (and hard to get) MS1000, and keep the old-school style complete - BUT not that powerful SPL into the 18" woofers...
or...
should I go for a Fusion 4000D. New, lovely design and powerful as a Truck to feed my woofers???
Would you guys be shaking your head if you would see my car, with lots of MS's, FAS and SOFAS - in pure old-school style including old-school 8"/10"/12"/18" woofers etc - AND ONE NEW (but good-lookin' and powerful) Fusion 4000D ???? I know the theme fades out a little, but would you guys shake your head and say " I'd prefer he would have a MS1000 and less sound, instead of that Fusion destroying the theme..." ???
Please be honest and let me know.
Thanks...
here it is btw..

Well, what matters more? Is it SPL or is it overall theme and matching?
I'd maybe look into getting an MPS series if you're going for good power AND matching it all up. If you can wire the Cerwin's down to 1 ohm or less, I believe an MPS2500 or two would do well.
Of course, finding and buying these amps isn't always easy.

SPL does matter, yes. However, I am not going for the world-record..fuzzysnuggleduck wrote:Well, what matters more? Is it SPL or is it overall theme and matching?

I do have a mint MPS2500 that I planned I to use on all my 8" mids. But I will maybe change it out, and use some of my MS275s on the 8" mids instead of the MPS. And sell the MPS2500, coz I am going to use all my 2125s on the 12" woofers...
And to use the MPS2500 on two 18" Strokers??? I doubt that the MPS does the Strokers the full respect.... The 18"s demand alot of power...
