Kicker likes to use large arrays of Mosfets < now normally this would appear to be a big + factor if parts count was the deciding factor>
I find high parts count means higher failure rates due to the Murphy's law that more parts means more weak links.
Kicker could have opted for lower parts count and higher reliability in my opinion by using larger and much heavier rated devices. This simplifies the assembly and and reduces the need for gain matching of large arrayed components. I find Kicker products to very economically manufactured <i.e.Cheap>.
The kicker in your post looks like a Toxic audio amp of which I have 4 in my junk yard. A single mosfet failed in each and the resulting catastrophic cascade failure, of several other outputs and the entire power supply's < both of which self destructed> and the burned up board space that prevent rebuilding the amp.
The Stetson uses 8 extremely high power outputs, not 32 like the kicker amp does. Also the Stetson uses all International rectifier class D chips in sockets so it can be repaired with relative ease, since these will most likely go south when the outputs do. Kicker "appears" to use a class BD driver board like Sony and fosgate only their board is a off the shelf Asian made device. It works and has it share of market including Soundstream, Directed, and others.
Kicker is not held in high repute around the bay area of SF. They seem to have had a bad run since the old ZR line and only gotten more economical since their Asian manufacture. they ( their class D amps ) are clones of Directed and Soundstream being made of the same drivers and outputs inside. Asian knock off amps with the Kicker name imprinted on them.
I must have at least 6 kicker 1200.1's in my junkyard, and if I combined all 6 I might get one working amp. The Kicker clientèle seem to excessively abusive to the kicker brand name also. If I sound down on Kicker I am not, as i make a bunch of money fixing them and upgrading their 15 volt rail supply transistors so they don't burn out < a common failure of their class AB amps.
I personally don't care for Kicker amplifier products, but they have a fair market share, so who knows maybe I'm high or something
