^they sort of are....but after you figure it out...you slap yourself becasue it so simple and actually well designed. i know i kicked my self a couple times when i figured out the "trick" to taking something apart!

so using its shape as a guideline, i constructed a replacement boxfrom 1/2 mdf, with a 3/4 baffle. its sitting at right about .3 cf, a little smaller then the instructions suggest, but its all i got.

i prepped the "cubby with some door seal foam to stop any potentail rattles then slid er in for a test fit...like a glove

i secured it in using the factory grill bolt holes, and plumbers tape...and added some more foam.
and finally, the view if you lift up the flap of leather that conceals the sub, and take out the removable arm rest.
it doesn't sound half bad! some the the lower octaves are a bit "tonie" (spelling)..toni..tony (why do i have the sudden urge to listen to early 90's soul now...)
i do have to say, that thing has some movement. JL did a good job with it
but their is only so much you can expect from a entry level 8 in a sealed box.
it sounds plenty good for my mom and her matchbox 20 cd's
